Lottery Fever is the 1st episode of the tenth season of Family Guy.

Plot

The Griffins win the state lottery and go on to spend the money with no regard, Peter becomes power hungry and demands that Joe and Quagmire do things for him when he invests in their projects.

Why It Shouldn’t Win the Lottery

  1. Peter was at his absolute worst on this episode where he starts treating his friends like garbage after winning the lottery, even when they were trying to ask him for some favors.
  2. The rest of the Griffins were no better since they also get effected by the money as well, though, Lois was unhappy about it at first, but Peter bribes her with a diamond ring.
  3. The infamous scene where Peter shoots Quagmire and Joe with a BB gun while performing "Making Whoopee".
  4. Another scene has Peter forcing Quagmire to eat a fudge pop and insulting him and throwing the fudge pop on his head.
  5. Several disturbing and gory moments such as Joe getting shot in the eye, Peter injuring himself from trying to dive into a pool of gold coins like Scrooge McDuck, and the corpse of the woman Quagmire had sex with where she’s split in half.
  6. Peter poops on Angela's desk after he quits his job after winning the lottery, but thankfully, it’s offscreen.
  7. This episode contradicts the events of season 2 premiere "Peter, Peter, Caviar Eater".
  8. Peter sells the second mortgage for the house for all of the lottery tickets, which just goes to show that Peter doesn’t care anything about his and his family's well-being.
  9. The episode is cliched and predictable as it follows the typical “Poor or middle income guy becomes very rich at the beginning, only to lose all of the money at the end” plotline.
  10. Overall, this episode wasn’t a good way to start season 10.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Joe and Quagmire are likable, and this is one of the few episodes where Quagmire surprisingly wasn’t Flanderized.
  2. Some funny moments like Wrath of Khan edited for goats, Peter trying to dive into a pool of coins (despite being gory), and the singing Russian waiter (which is the iconic "Trolololol" guy).
  3. Good Ending: Peter apologizes to Joe and Quagmire for how he treated them and Quagmire gives him a check so he and his family can get their house back.
  4. This episode does teach a moral that you shouldn’t make money the most important thing in your life and you should care more about your friends and family.
