M&M's Beach Party is a 2009 party video game developed by Digital Embryo and published by indiePub now known as Zoo Digital Publishing for the Nintendo Wii.

Why It's Not a Fun Beach Party

  1. Dull graphics. They ironically look like something out of a GameCube or PS2 game rather than a late Wii game, though not as bad as M&M's Adventure at least.
  2. Poor controls in the hub world, with the camera being locked behind you at all times. You also need to use the D-Pad vertically in order to move which just doesn't feel right for 3D. Not to mention that the animation for walking is terrible.
  3. It is possible for the game to SoftLock itself during select screens so that the player wouldn't be able to click on anything, showing how broken this game is.
  4. Unresponsive motion controls in the minigames, such as in the volleyball minigame where you have to shake the Wii Remote so that your M&M can hit the ball, but it doesn't even work half of the time.
    • Some of the minigames have bad physics, such as the skiball minigame where your ball can sometimes fly off for no reason.
  5. Playing through the minigames themselves is unnecessary as you can unlock everything the game has to offer just by collecting seashells in the hub world, with the shells themselves taking only about 3 minutes to collect.
  6. The game is very short due to there being only six minigames, which in themselves are also very short.
    • The kayaking minigame is the last minigame to unlock, but it only lasts for about 10 seconds.
  7. Generic beach soundtrack.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The soundtrack, while generic for a beach game, is passable.
  2. At least it's not as bad compared to other M&M's games, such as Kart Racing and Adventure.

Reception

The game recieved negative reviews. On GameFAQs, it has a rating of 2.21/5.[1]
