MAD is a TV show that first aired on Cartoon Network on September 6, 2010. Based on the comic book series of the same name, it parodies many popular shows or products, usually using a lot of popular stuff in two major sketches per episode.

Mad Funny Qualities

  1. Like Robot Chicken and South Park, it does great satire parodies of pop culture in movies, TV shows, video games. But unlike those two, it is far more toned down and kid-friendly.
  2. Surprisingly, for such a simple and low-budget series, the humor is very clever and well-done. The self-depreciation jokes are a good example of this.
  3. The Spy vs. Spy skits are pretty entertaining and memorable.
  4. Good animation, ranging from digital animation to even stop-motion.
  5. The voice acting is fairly decent and passable.
  6. Tons of great sketches, such as
    • Grey's in Anime
    • Diary of a Wimpy Kid Icarus
    • Gaming's Next Top Princess
    • Kung Fu Blander
    • ThunderLOLCats
    • My Little War Horse
    • Taking Nemo
    • Pokemonsters Inc.
    • Yo Gagga Gagga!
    • Law and Ogre
    • The Buzz Identity
    • Doraline
  7. The parody crossovers can be very creative and mesh together fittingly such as Thomas the UNSTOPPABLE Tank Engine, Destroy, Bob The Builder, Destroy and Outtagascar.
  8. There are also some fun cameos, like Jeff Bergman reprising his role as Daffy Duck in McDuck Dynasty, and Frank Welker playing Garfield in Garfield of Dreams.

Mad Not Funny Qualities

  1. The bad animation, especially in the computers animation skits (such as the RioA and Kung Fu Blander ones) look very strange and robotic. Though to be fair, this could be intentional.
    • The early Spy vs. Spy animations looked really rushed, but the Renegade Animation versions are cute, and the stop-motion ones are top notch.
  2. The series sometimes makes unsubtle adult jokes, which is unfitting for a children's show.
  3. Most skits are basically hit or miss. Those that tend to miss can be cringeworthy and disgusting to look at, especially the pimple skit, which thankfully it was censored in Latin America and Brazil.
    • Some of the jokes in Seasons 4 aren't really that funny and get repetitive fast.
  4. The gross-out scenes are very annoying and obnoxious to sit through.
  5. Sometimes, they can overuse the actors, which can get sort of annoying.
  6. Some of the pop culture references and celebrity parodies become dated upon future viewings.
  7. There are some bad or mediocre skits, such as iCharlie, Car Squisher, and Everybody Loves Rayman.

Reception

Despite having mixed reviews from critics, Cartoon Network themselves, and from (some) viewers, it has been getting a cult following in recent years as more people talk about it nowadays, and it has been doing well with ratings making almost 3 million viewers from boys and kids ages 2-11, 6-11, and 9-14 per episode.
