MadWorld is a hack and slash video game developed by PlatinumGames (in their debut title) and published by Sega for the Nintendo Wii. It was released in March 2009 and was the first in a five game deal Platinum struck with Sega. It was re-released in Australia a year later as part of the Welcome to Violence boxset, which also includes The House of the Dead: Overkill and The Conduit.
Why It Rocks
- Deep and engaging plot.
- Cool protagonist in the form of Jack Cayman.
- Unique visual style inspired by graphics novels such as Sin City.
- Over-the-top and violent combat.
- The only color you'll be seeing in the game is red blood, of which there is a lot of it.
- Hilarious mini-games, such as throwing your enemies in the path of a speeding train or knocking them into a dartboard with a bat.
- Bosses which are large in scale and rewarding to beat.
- The levels are completely open, so you can explore them freely.
- The game rewards you for finding creative ways to kill your opponents. For example, just simply impaling them on spikes won't earn you as many points as trapping them in a tire, impaling their face with a sign, and then impaling them on spikes would.
- Levels in which you ride Jack's motorcycle from place to place add variety and have you fighting off enemies along the way.
- Jack has a chainsaw that can be used to saw your enemies in half.
- Intuitive motion controls that are used where they make sense.
- Finishers that look awesome and are a thrill to pull off.
- When you beat the game it unlocks hard mode and a double chainsaw and kattana.
- Excellent music.
- Punchy sound effects.
- Funny commentary.
- Competitive two-player mode.
