Madden NFL 06 is an American Football video game developed and published by EA Sports released on August 8th, 2005.
Why It's a Playmaker
- Incredibly deep and fleshed out franchise mode allowing players to take on the role of a coach or an owner.
- A very immersive and detailed Superstar mode with fun drills and games, giving you the opportunity to take your created superstar from his rookie year to retirement.
- All new highlight stick which is very useful.
- Passing cone, adding more realism to the experience.
- Butter smooth gameplay and framerate.
- The Burnout Revenge demo is included, which is a very, very early build of the game, has better physics, unused traffic behavior, and adapts the points system from Burnout 3: Takedown.
- Also, if the player had a saved game of Madden NFL 06, the player would unlock the Madden Challenge Bus in Burnout Revenge (on a new save).
- Awesome, catchy, and motivating soundtrack of twenty-one rap and rock songs, as well as instrumental music from NFL Films.
- Very good presentation for the time, with great commentary from Al Michaels and John Madden.
- More challenging, but fair AI than previous games, both on defense and offense.
- Extremely addictive minicamp games.
Bad Qualities
- The Xbox 360 version is a feature stripped unmitigated disaster, due to being heavily rushed to be released for the console's launch.
- The PlayStation Portable version has a game breaking glitch in Franchise mode, in which the game crashes when the player intercepts a pass during a Franchise game, and when EA was told to patch the game, they refused and told gamers to "deal with it"
- The player face shapes are more limited than in Madden 2005.
