Magic Numbers is the eleventh episode in the first season of Fraidy Cat.
Plot
When Fraidy gets teased by Long Tail and Fatty Catty, they trick him into saying the number “nine”. When Fraidy says “nine”, he summons a storm cloud in the shape of the number nine, named Cloud Nine. Cloud Nine chases Fraidy throughout the city until he finds his way into a telephone booth, and he manages to escape from him.
Why It Sucks
- Fraidy is the butt of everyone’s jokes in this episode. Fatty Catty and Long Tail tease Fraidy and chase him because he’s so timid.
- The animation is really stiff and limited, especially for it being a Filmation production.
- Elephunt’s appearance serves no purpose in this episode. It’s funny since it’s his final appearance in the series overall.
- The reason as to why Cloud Nine wants to kill Fraidy is never explored in this episode.
- There’s a major plothole in the end of the episode. Fraidy escapes from Cloud Nine by… going inside of a telephone pole’s wires. Why did Cloud Nine not follow Fraidy inside of the wire?
The Only Redeeming Quality
- Fatty Catty and Long Tail at least get their comeuppance, by getting zapped by Cloud Nine in a comedic fashion.
