Me Time: The Ballad of Mac and Mom is the 23rd episode of Season 2 and the 44th episode overall of Kirby Buckets.
Plot
After Mac and Kirby's Mom engage in a heated argument, Kirby encounters a CD player to time travel back to 1994 to fix their relationship. Dawn and Belinda investigate the mystery of "Who Wrote It Better".
Qualities That Do Not Deserve a Me Time
- This is somewhat a Kirby torture episode because he hates to see his mom and Mac arguing.
- Both Kirby's Mom and Mac in the present day are horribly unlikable to the point that they fight and argue each other because someone ruins their song.
- Dawn and Belinda's plot is almost pointless and it does not provide any plots to advance. They are there to investigate with the white, talking parrot who investigates "Who Wrote It Better".
- Eli and Fish's plot, while tolerable and provides the premise, is also a bit mean-spirited since both of them deserve a muffin after Eli attempts to eat the muffin, only to let it drop and cause the student to eat it.
- When Kirby time travels to 1994, he uses a CD player to investigate Mac and Kirby's Mom singing a song, Me Time. However, Kirby's Dad accidentally knocks the person holding the Me Time sign causing both of them to stumble, which explains the argument but did not blame the victim who accidentally ruins their song.
- He also time travels again, but his dad knocks the person holding the sign just to knock his wife and Mac. But still, they did not blame or reprimand the person holding the sign nor apologize to each other.
- Missed opportunity: When Kirby's dad knocks his wife and Mac, they would have blamed the victim who did this by accident.
Qualities That Deserve Me Time
- Kirby, Fish, Eli, Kirby's Dad, and Kirby's drawn-to-life characters are the only likable characters in this episode.
- Kirby's Dad changing clothes is hilarious.
- The unbreakable banner is hilarious.
- The concept of fixing mistakes by time traveling is interesting.
- Mac's original name is revealed, which is Rodney, because Kirby's dad knock the person holding the sign to stumble both of them, even if it is nonsensical.
- The ending is good after both Kirby's mom and Mac sing Me Time, Kirby time travels back to the present and they are reunited.
Trivia
- It is revealed that Mac's name is originally, Rodney.
