Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (known as Metal Gear Solid outside Japan) is a 2D stealth action game made by Konami released for the Game Boy Color, despite sharing the same name of the PS1 version, it is not related to it, instead being a spin-off that acts as an alternate sequel to the original Metal Gear, taking place 7 years after the game.
Why it Rocks
- Even though it's a spin off, it has a really awesome story, many fans don't even consider it a spin off as a result.
- Awesome gameplay.
- Great throwback to the original Metal Gear games.
- Great graphics, specially for a GBC game.
- Cool soundtrack.
- 13 long stages that will keep you occupied for a while, plus the VR challenges.
- Awesome bosses.
- A special mode called "Stage Select Mode" where, after you complete a level in Story Mode, it becomes available in Stage Select Mode, where you replay the level but with different objectives such as finishing the level as fast as possible.
- Lots of weapons to use like the pistol, machine gun, etc.
- Sneak up behind guards, or use boxes to hide from them.
- A great VS. mode.
- Slasher Hawk's backstory is emotional.
- The game succeeds in bringing as much stuff as possible to make the game close to the PS1 version.
- Marionette Owl and Pyro Bison are two of the scariest characters in the entire Metal Gear franchise.
Trivia
- This is the first game in the series to receive an ESRB rating under Mature (In this case Everyone).
