Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (known as Metal Gear Solid outside Japan) is a 2D stealth action game made by Konami released for the Game Boy Color, despite sharing the same name of the PS1 version, it is not related to it, instead being a spin-off that acts as an alternate sequel to the original Metal Gear, taking place 7 years after the game.

Why it Rocks

  1. Even though it's a spin off, it has a really awesome story, many fans don't even consider it a spin off as a result.
  2. Awesome gameplay.
  3. Great throwback to the original Metal Gear games.
  4. Great graphics, specially for a GBC game.
  5. Cool soundtrack.
  6. 13 long stages that will keep you occupied for a while, plus the VR challenges.
  7. Awesome bosses.
  8. A special mode called "Stage Select Mode" where, after you complete a level in Story Mode, it becomes available in Stage Select Mode, where you replay the level but with different objectives such as finishing the level as fast as possible.
  9. Lots of weapons to use like the pistol, machine gun, etc.
  10. Sneak up behind guards, or use boxes to hide from them.
  11. A great VS. mode.
  12. Slasher Hawk's backstory is emotional.
  13. The game succeeds in bringing as much stuff as possible to make the game close to the PS1 version.
  14. Marionette Owl and Pyro Bison are two of the scariest characters in the entire Metal Gear franchise.

Trivia

  • This is the first game in the series to receive an ESRB rating under Mature (In this case Everyone).
