Featuring the original five Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the game is a classic "beat 'em up" where you must fight your way to victory.

Why It Rocks

  1. The gameplay is really well done and is extremely fun to play, as the combat feel extremely satistying, and the gameplay is also fluid and fast-paced, which is everything that is needed for a good action game.
  2. Solid, amazing controls that are just as great as the previous Natsume games, as here they once again made incredibly tight and responsive controls that will never be unresponsive at all, even if you're not good at video games, they are still quite easy to use, and this make the gameplay even more fun.
  3. Excellent graphics, they are very detailled, colorful and overall very good to look at, in fact they are so good that they might be some of the best from any SNES games as you will want to look at them for so long, and even in game you might want to pause the game just to look at the game beauty, the graphics are even almost on par with a 2D PS1 game and even manage to look better than some 2D games released in the 2010s.
  4. All the rangers are playable, meaning that there's 5 playables characters, which is incredible for an action game released back then.
  5. Challenging difficulty without being unfair, at such you will not get any troubles to beat the game with pratices.
  6. The rangers also had their own playstyle, meaning that they are not skin changes, which encourage you to play all of them and because of their awesome playstyle, you will sure want to try out all of them.
  7. Absolutely amazing soundtrack, having a ton of upbeat musics that are so catchy that you might even want to stay on the levels longer just to listen to the game soundtrack, and in fact even the theme song rendition is great and '"had vocals in it!! How great is that?
  8. Amazing level design, being a game designed with care and they designed the game with the rangers abilities, which is why this game is so well polished, and the levels are designed with so much cares that they almost had no issues.
  9. Like the show, you start at a civilian and transform into a ranger later, which is a decent idea and is faithful to the show.
  10. The bosses are great and challenging, and there's also some Megazord battles present in the game, which are also great to play.
  11. In fact, this game spawned a sequel that is based on the 1995 movie, which was also as good if not even better.
  12. Overall, this game prove that not all licensed games of the 90s are bad, in fact there's a lot of good licensed games out there.

Bad Qualities

  1. In some levels, out of nowhere there's a laser that come and hit you, which doesn't make any senses and is annoying, howewer it also kill the enemies.
  2. The checkpoints system isn't the best, as it lack checkpoints in many places, so if you die then you will had to restart a lot of a level part.
  3. Zack's name is misspelled as "ZACH" on the character select screen.

Reception

The game received fairly positive reviews by critics and gamers, and is considered to be one of the best Power Rangers game ever made.

Trivia

  • The game uses the same engine as Natsume's Ninja Warriors Again, also for the SNES, causing the games to share many physics and sound effects.
  • The game has no overall narrative and thus no plot to it, presented as a series of disconnected adventures.
  • The game takes place during the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, although at the time of the game's release, the TV show was already mid-way through Season 2.
    • The Dino Megazord had been upgraded into the Thunder Megazord on the show several months before the game's release.
    • Tommy, the Green Ranger, does not appear in the game (although he appears in the game's commercials via Zyuranger stock footage). By the time of the game's release, he had already made his transition from the Green Ranger to the White Ranger on the show.
    • The game was released just a few weeks after Jason, Zack and Trini's departure from the show. By the time the game was released in Japan, Kimberly had departed the show as well.
  • Billy and Kimberly would later return in the game's sequel with new unmorphed sprites.
  • Every morphed Ranger sprite, including Trini and Kimberly's, appears as a recolor of the Red Ranger. These sprites would be reused for the game's sequel.
  • Zordon, Alpha and Goldar do not appear in the game at all.
  • None of the game's stages appeared in the show at all.
  • Ernie, Bulk and Skull appear during the ending credits but have no dialogue or action in the main game.
  • Similar to its Sega Genesis counterpart, Cyclopsis also appears as the final boss with its two forms.
