"Sorry Peppa, you've done some dumb stuff, but you're not getting off this one. I know this show is meant to be brainless enough to be processable by the gnat on the ceiling, but this is the most thick-headed, irresponsible message the writers have sent so far. I consider Mister Skinnylegs the most dangerous, stupid, terrible episode of Peppa Pig of them all." — PhantomStrider, Top 6 Worst Peppa Pig Episodes

Mister Skinnylegs is the 47th episode of Season 1 of Peppa Pig. It was aired on November 10, 2004. This was considered a controversial episode.

Plot

A frightened Peppa Pig tries to get someone to rid of a spider that George befriended when he saw in the bathroom.

Why It Should Get Bitten by the Spider

  1. First and foremost, the fact that this episode teaches children it is okay to play with spiders because "they're small and they can't hurt you", which isn't always a good thing seeing how not every spider in the world is safe. Australian YouTuber PhantomStrider explained that Australia is home to the redback spider, the funnel web spider, and the white-tailed spider, all of which are deadly enough to kill a human. If that's what they would do to an adult, then just think about what they can do to a young child, the main and primary demographic for the show as a whole! Heck, even Valskibum94 explained this controversial episode in his video about it!
    • This episode was therefore banned there since Australia has very dangerous spiders, and like most countries, their main audience for Peppa Pig is young children.
    • While only a very small number of spiders are deadly to humans, many are unfriendly and will bite when they feel threatened.
  2. Peppa is a jerk in this episode. She tries to stop George from playing what he wants to play, and as always, she doesn't get in trouble for it. She also tried to make her father touch the spider, which caused Daddy Pig to flinch a bit and to fall off his chair, though it's likely because he was scared.
  3. This episode never points out handling spiders with your bare hands, which is what Peppa and George ended up doing here.
  4. Nonsensical logic: When George puts Mister Skinnylegs to bed, why did it take 5 seconds for him to get out from under the covers?
  5. They even made a sequel to the episode called "Spider Web," which is just as bad, if not actually worse than this one, and that's really saying a lot as on top of having the characters getting incredibly close to spiders and handling with your bare hands like this one, it also encourages poor hygiene by having Daddy Pig say that leaving your house filled with cobwebs "gives the room character", which they do not, but it also states that Daddy Pig being late for work is less important than a spider's web being ruined. Reception and controversy

This episode was received with negative reviews from critics and parents alike, it is usually considered one of the worst episodes of Peppa Pig due to the fact it teaches children that it is okay to play with spiders. As a matter of fact, the episode was even banned in Australia, mainly due to their country having very dangerous spiders there.

PhantomStrider place it on his Top 6 Worst Peppa Pig Episodes.
