More of the Same is the 51st episode of the 2nd season of Teen Titans Go!.
Synopsis
Can the Titans master the four New Year's traditions in order to break the cycle of bad years?
Bad Qualities
- Inappropriate Airdate: This episode was supposed to be the show’s New Year’s special, yet this episode aired on July instead of late December or early January.
- While Cartoon Network’s excuse was because it was part of the 100th episode celebration lineup for Teen Titans Go!, it does not excuse the inappropriate airdate. It could’ve been pulled.
- The Titans making mistakes on New Year’s is something more on the lines of what a stupid person would do, not someone screwing up New Year’s.
- The old couple kissing in Robin’s fantasy is disgusting because their dentures come out, complete with them drooling.
- The practice toast scene is stupid:
- Cyborg actually gives a great speech but Robin shuts him down because it’s too long.
- Raven just darkly wishes death on everyone, remind us why they’re friends again?
- Beast Boy’s “speech” Is not even a speech and is just random sentences strung together, it’s more like a YouTube Poop than anything else. (He also shoehorns toilet humor into it)
- The scene where Beast Boy tries to count backwards is stupid and very facepalm-worthy.
- The joke about Raven singing “Danny Boy” is not funny.
- They also insult “Aude Lan Syn” as calling it the “song nobody knows the lyrics to” it’s insulting because the song is actually Latin, making it authentic.
- The calendar montage of the Titans being tortured is incredibly unfunny.
- Bad Ending: It’s the future and the Titans are now old, Raven reveals the reason why they keep messing up New Years is because Father Time and Baby New Year are sadists who love to torture the Titans for no reason. They go to visit them and Father Time reveals it’s true, he even haughtily states that seeing the Titans fail and suffer makes him and Baby New Year laugh. They fight the Titans and they let them celebrate New Year’s correctly.
Good Qualities
- The kissing puppets scene is funny.
- Cyborg‘s speech is beautiful.
- Raven was actually right, it is wrong to hurt people for your own personal gain.
