My Talking Tom is a virtual pet app released on November 11, 2013, for Android and published by Outfit7. It has had a massive success, got million downloads, and spawned 5 sequels, My Talking Tom 2, My Talking Angela, My Talking Hank, My Talking Tom Friends, My Talking Angela 2, and with the exception of My Talking Tom+.

Good Qualities

  1. Unlike most games on mobile phones that were released, this game is of high quality and has fun gameplay, unlike Talking Tom from 2011.
  2. The graphics are decent, especially for an Android game and for a game release in 2013, and it's also a huge improvement over the empty first Talking Tom game graphics and an improvement in everything in general.
  3. The soundtrack is pretty relaxing and better than most mobile games.
  4. Punching Tom is still pretty funny to do, and the animations after you punch him are funny.
  5. This was the game that made Talking Tom a huge success, and this game has spawned many sequels over the years, like My Talking Tom 2, which is as good as this game if not better.
  6. The minigames are the absolute best part of the game because they are fun, and most of them don't have any issues.
  7. In 2022, the game got an updated version only in the Apple Arcade and fixed some issues like the ads, enhanced framework, HD graphics that look even better, and removed in-app purchases. Unfortunately, for now, that version was not released on Android.
  8. The game spawned a TV show short of this game, which is even funnier than this game, and the game also spawned a main TV show named Talking Tom & Friends, which was faithful to this game.

Bad Qualities

  1. The game has microtransactions and many ads in the 2013 version, which can be annoying.
  2. The minigame Goal! can be annoying to play sometimes as it has stiff and awful controls, but it's still fun.
  3. While the minigames are fun, some of them are frustrating, like Hit the Road or Tom Run, which is a chore to play.
  4. Unfortunately, Talking Tom+ was released only in the Apple Arcade service and not on Android devices. However, this is a good way to rid microtransactions and in-game ads.
  5. While the soundtrack is fine, some music is generic, as expected from a mobile game.
