No Bus No Fuss is the 13th episode (14th in production order) of the fifth season of The Loud House.
Plot
Lincoln and his friends try to find another way to get to school after a run-in with the 8th-grade bullies on the school bus.
Why It's An Absolute Fuss
- This is yet another dull episode with Lincoln and the gang.
- The bus bullies (names: Anderson, Pablo, and Taylor) are extremely generic and have no personality other than the "generic bully" stereotype. They do nothing more like they're like to sit in the back, but get aggressive when someone sits on their chairs.
- The plot feels more like a Roblox bully story than a Loud House episode.
- The Loud sisters barely get any screen time. Not helping is that Lynn Loud Jr.'s only purpose in this episode is for filler only
- Wasted potential: like many other episodes of this show, this one wasted the school bus setting, which is supposed to show what is it like to be in a school bus in real life while at the same time having funny moments in it, but this one is ruined by a lot of stale or unfunny jokes that are dragged on for far too long while the rest of the episode just focuses on the torture scenario of Lincoln.
- Most of the jokes in this episode are bad:
- The instances where words ending in "ay" get replaced with "yay", like "Fri-yay" or "O-yay", which sounds very cringeworthy and is yet another example of Nickelodeon trying to be "hip and cool". Not helping is that this joke dragged on for too long like any Family Guy jokes.
- Liam's pig Virginia barfing on Clyde, which is both disgusting and unfunny. This one also lasted for far too long.
- Clyde and Stella are idiots in this episode as they throw pens, a sandwich, and mud at the bully, not knowing they would make it worse by pissing them off. This would make sense for Liam, Rusty, and Zach cause they are idiots, but Clyde and Stella definitely should've known better.
- Flip launches the gang out of a plane, which is really dangerous. What makes matters worse is that this very scene threw away any chance to make Flip change into a better person in the preceding episode ("A Flipmas Carol").
- The episode is super repetitive, with a long montage of getting to school.
- The ending is very rushed, and the kids face no challenge getting the bullies to stop.
- The title of the episode is stupid. Seriously, "No Bus No Fuss"?
- Although Lynn's appearance is minor, she once again proves to be a bad sister, by stealing Lincoln's breakfast burrito and eating it for no reason.
- Misleading title card: In the yellow credits box, it shows the inside and the lockers of Royal Woods Middle School with a note, but it doesn't appear anywhere in the episode outside of that. The storyboarders/animators could have put the inside of the bus in it.
- Plot holes:
- It is never revealed if Taylor, Pablo, and Anderson attacked Lincoln's younger sisters (Lucy, Lola, Lana, and Lisa).
- Ernie doesn't do anything to stop the bullies, despite him being a bus driver. He could have gotten fired because of this.
- Lincoln's younger sisters are shown riding the bus that Lincoln rides, although Lincoln now attends middle school while his younger sisters still attend elementary school.
Redeeming Qualities
- It was kind of cool to see the friends' different cars.
- It was amazing that the kids on the school bus stood up to the bullies.
- There was a really funny inside joke involving Lincoln noticing he only has 4 fingers when counting how many cars there are to ride on.
- Thankfully, Lynn Jr. isn't put on bus monitor duty just to abuse her position the same way she abused her hall monitor position.
Reception
No Bus No Fuss was hated by fans of the show, currently holding a rating of 3.6/10 on IMDb.
Trivia
- This episode marks the first usage of Pop Punk in Season 5.
- Just like any other episode featuring them, Clyde's dads are very overprotective over Clyde, even covering the car in bubble wrap.
- On Nickelodeon airings in Southeast Asia, Harold is edited out of the episode due to how he is married to Howard
- This is the last episode to be boarded by Ari Castleton before he left to work on Middlemost Post.
