Paradise PD is an American adult animated comedy web television series created by Waco O'Guin and Roger Black that premiered on August 30, 2018 on Netflix.

Premise

Paradise PD follows "a small-town police department. They're bad cops. Not bad like no nonsense. Not bad like cool. Bad like shitty."

Bad Qualities

  1. Some of the jokes in the show take it way too far.
  2. Most of the characters are unlikable. Not only that, but all of the characters are also cliched:
    • Kevin Crawford is your typical idiotic main character, however he's one of the more likeable characters.
    • Randall Crawford is your typical bossy main character that is sometimes the villain, who uses testosterone patches. When he doesn't take his testosterone patches he also has woman-like breasts, which is quite disturbing.
    • Gina Jabowski is the typical violent main character with anger problems. She is also the typical sexual harasser.
    • Dusty Marlow is the Butt-Monkey-type character.
    • Stanley Hopson is the typical disobedient officer who usually ignores the orders Randall gives him. He also wears diapers on purpose, and usually undresses himself in front of others.
    • Bullet is the typical "jerk to everyone".
    • Gerald "Fitz" Fitzgerald is the typical PTSD-influenced character. He’s also likable.
  3. It's a shameless rehash of Brickleberry, which was created by the same people. Almost every main character and even several recurring characters are literally just effortlessly-manufactured carbon copies of a Brickleberry character just with a different outfit and hairstyle and a lazy reskin. Some of the characters even have the exact same voice actors as their counterparts, who put no effort into changing their voices. In fact, they even acknowledge this in the crossover of both shows.
    • Kevin is a rehash of Steve just with blond hair and a cop uniform. They even have the same voice actor.
    • Randall is a rehash of Woody and they have the same voice actor. However, the show does justify this by revealing that Randall and Woody are cousins.
    • Gina is a rehash of Ethel just with a different hairstyle and outfit. She's also a rapist.
    • Dusty is a rehash of Connie, only this time he's a straight male rather than a female lesbian.
    • Gerald is a rehash of Denzel, in a police uniform, only now, Denzel's joke about having sex with old ladies was replaced with Gerald having PTSD and multiple personality disorder. However, the show actually does delve more into Gerald's mental disorders later and turn him into a well-rounded character.
    • Bullet is a rehash of Malloy, only a dog.
    • Robby and Delbert are both rehashes of Bobby and Bodean. They have the same voice actors and they were literally so lazy, they changed the name "Bobby" to "Robby".
    • Dr. Funtlichter is a rehash of Dr. Kuzniak but with gray hair. They even have the exact same voice actor.
    • Hobo Cop is a rehash of Hobo Larry just with a different outfit. They have the same voice actor.
    • Preacher Paul is a rehash of Reverend Rosty only fatter and with a different outfit.
  4. Although Brickleberry has nudity in almost every episode, censorship is mostly used. Paradise PD does also have nudity, but is shown UNCENSORED!
  5. Boring theme song.
  6. Uninteresting plots.
  7. The animation, while being somewhat of an improvement over Brickleberry, is still somewhat stilted and mediocre, once again making it resemble a cheap knock-off of Family Guy.
  8. It had an unnecessary crossover with Brickleberry, heck, they even acknowledge it's unnecessary.
  9. There was one episode dedicated to Randall solving the mystery about a corpse's anus.
  10. One episode was dedicated to an evil baby fetus mutilating Randall's erect penis ... twice.
  11. Like Family Guy, it relies on cutaway scenes and also mocks Christian fundamentalists.
  12. There are some gross-out moments like people having sex with animals and making hybrid children, most notably Fitz having sex with his dolphin wife or Bullet sleeping around with several human girls, which is bestiality! or Kevin falling in love with his car to the point he had SEX with it!
  13. Like Brickleberry, this show tries way too hard to induce shock value through its excessive violence, swearing, nudity, and sex. However, since it's on Netflix, they're allowed to go even farther, by showing the sex and nudity uncensored.
  14. Some of the jokes in Season 3 take things way too far by telling jokes about sex toys for children! This includes cock rings for babies and a dildo pacifier.
  15. In "Season 3", Dusty went through character derailment and suddenly became an obnoxious asshole, who abused and tormented everybody for no reason.

Good Qualities

  1. Unlike Brickleberry and other shows of its genre, the show has an overarching storyline and a consistent plot that spans multiple episodes, which actually gets pretty good, starting with Season 2.
  2. Decent voice acting. (It features the talent of Tom Kenny, Sarah Chalke, Cedric Yarbrough, Grey Griffin, John DiMaggio, and Lance Reddick)
  3. Kevin and Gerald are probably the only likable characters.
    • Speaking of Kevin, he's a way more likeable protagonist than Steve, as he has a moral compass and never commits crimes, bullying, or selfish acts.
  4. Stanley Hopson is an original character and is quite funny.
  5. Bullet at least is not as big of an asshole as Malloy. He has several moments, where he treats his co-workers with genuine respect.
  6. The theme song, while boring, has couch gags, which are a bit creative.
  7. As mentioned above while still mediocre, the animation is at-least an improvement over Brickleberry.
  8. While the crossover with Brickleberry was unnecessary, seeing the characters interact was pretty interesting like Bullet and Denzel and Ethel and Gina. It also shows that the writers and creators of both shows can take criticism and even poke fun at themselves, unlike the writers and creators of Teen Titans Go! who make episodes just to mock critics.
  9. Funny moments here and there.
  10. Season 2 was a major improvement from Season 1, introducing better animation/art-style and a variety of different forms of humor to balance out the gross-out humor.
    • Such new humor includes non-dirty humor, clever & subversive comedy, fun references to 80's media, fourth wall jokes, and subtle background jokes/easter eggs.
  11. Season 2 also introduced new likeable major characters such as Thester and Agent Clappers.
