Pedro's Cough is the 3rd episode of Season 3 of Peppa Pig.

Summary

Pedro gets a cough, starting a chain of sickness at school as the other kids become sick. Doctor Brown bear is called in, giving the kids horrible medicine. Brown bear falls ill as well.

Why This Episode Makes Us Cough and Forces Us to Infect Everyone Else

  1. First and foremost, how did Pedro Pony even catch a cough, to begin with? Why was he sick? Many viewers find this episode nonsensical as there is no purpose to the plot whatsoever.
  2. Pedro should be covering his arm when he is coughing, especially when we dealt with a worldwide pandemic in real life from 2020-2023.
    • Also, if Pedro's cough was that bad, he should have stayed at home and rested instead of coming into playgroup that day.
  3. When Madame Gazelle was about to start singing, one or more characters end up coughing before she said "who was--". That gag indeed got on everyone's nerves very quickly.
  4. Pedro and, to some extent, Dr. Brown Bear, are pretty unlikable in this episode. Pedro is the most unlikeable because he had showed us that if you are sick, you would continue coughing and infecting everyone else around you. That is precisely what he did as he had gotten Dr. Brown Bear, Madame Gazelle, all of the grownups sans Mummy Pig and Granddad Dog, Suzy Sheep, and Danny Dog sick; he oddly didn't manage to get Peppa, Candy, Zoe, Rebecca, or even Emily sick since he was pretty close between them.
    • Dr. Brown Bear "claims" he's never ill, yet four minutes into the episode, he ends up catching the same cough.
    • Madame Gazelle is also slightly unlikeable because she really should have sent Pedro home that day.
  5. If this episode was released after January 2020 (when the coronavirus came into the UK), this episode would have been heavily panned, but thankfully it was released ten years before. However, this doesn't excuse the actions that Pedro, Suzy, Danny, Madame Gazelle, the parents of Peppa, Pedro, Zoe, Danny, Rebecca, Suzy, and Candy, and Dr. Brown Bear just did.
  6. The medicine scenes in this episode were just filler and obnoxious to watch, and the jokes of it tasting like jam, custard, yogurt, and old footwear grow old very quickly.
  7. Could someone ask us how Mummy Pig and Granddad Dog appeared out of nowhere near the end of the episode? Did they take time off work or leave early just to help out a poor doctor?
  8. Bad moral: The children laughing at their parents and teacher for drinking the medicine shows how mean-spirited they can sometimes be.
  9. Shouldn't everyone visiting the hospital be wearing a mask not to risk themselves becoming poorly? They should be acting as if they're in a pandemic, like people in real life now!

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Peppa is pretty likeable in this episode as she did ask a good question to Dr. Brown Bear about him being sick.
  2. The scene where the kids sing Miss Polly Has a Dolly to Dr. Brown Bear is the only cute moment.
