Penny Foolish is the second episode of the sixth season of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Synopsis

An obsessed Mr. Krabs must find a penny when SpongeBob found it across the street.

Cheapskate Qualities

1. The premise of Mr. Krabs being obsessed with a penny and trying to desperately find it is not that interesting.
2. It ironically contradicts all previous episodes involving Mr. Krabs and pennies, all for the sake of plot contrivance.
3. This episode started Mr. Krabs' flanderization, as he becomes incredibly obsessed with one measly penny that he believed SpongeBob picked up on the street, to the point that he'd go to extreme lengths to obtain it, like building a movie theater, setting up a play, and even breaking into his employee's house.
4. The episode is a rehash of the Season 3 episode “One Krabs Trash” as both of these episodes focus on Mr. Krabs becoming obsessed with taking something that belongs to SpongeBob with the only difference being the item in SpongeBob’s possession (the item in the aforementioned episode was a soda drinking hat)
5. Mr. Krabs' obsession here is played like a mental illness that he cannot resist and eventually succumbs to; whenever he sees round objects, he visualizes them as a penny, which just derails him from his focus to reality.
6. Bad ending: It turns out that "penny" was actually a wet and soggy paper bill, initially thought to be a piece of gum. Outside of SpongeBob's house, Mr. Krabs, still unable to get over his obsession, randomly digs out in the front yard in search of the penny.

Good Qualities

1. People hearing Mr. Krabs act like a dolphin was funny.
2. At least Mr. Krabs told SpongeBob what happened at the beginning of this episode, near at the end.
