Pokémon Stadium (known as Pokémon Stadium 2 in Japan) is a strategy game based on the Pokémon Series released by Nintendo. It was released on the Nintendo 64 in Japan on April 30th, 1999 and released in the US on February 29th, 2000. This was the first 3D Pokémon game ever released. It is the sequel to Pocket Monsters Stadium that was released only in Japan.

Why It Feels Like They Were Fighting Against Mewtwo After Competing Here

  1. This was the first 3D Pokémon game to be made by Nintendo. The graphics and animations are great, even by N64 standards. Many fans of the Pokémon series even compared these animations to those in Pokémon Sword and Shield because of this.
  2. You can even actually use every 151 Pokémon from Generation I in battles by renting/borrowing them, you can also use your own Pokémon if you have your own copy of Pokémon Red or Blue and use the Transfer Pak to use your Pokémon you caught in the game and use them in Pokémon battles in Stadium.
  3. Excellent Soundtrack
  4. It's a pretty long game, it can actually take you a entire day to beat the game in 100%.
  5. You can even play Pokémon Red or Blue on your N64, since this game is also a Game Boy Emulator.
  6. All the Pokémon Trainers from the original game are here.
  7. Each Pokémon's cry was remastered, and some of them also use real animal noises.
  8. The Pokémon fainting animations despite some are depressing were great and had a lot of effort put in to give them various types of fainting. Click here to see for yourself.
  9. The Mewtwo battle is amazing, especially in Round 2 where it gets powerful.

Bad Qualities

  1. The game can sometimes become difficult in later stages. Especially with the fisher on the Pika cup.
  2. Some of the Pokémon fainting animations can be depressing and sad to watch, as most of them act like they are getting killed/dead.
    • Also, some fainting animations might creep you out, especially, Jynx, Vileplume and Kangaskhan.
  3. The infamous battle with a fisher on the Pika cup is considered the hardest battle in the whole franchise (counting the main games) due to his strong and over-leveled Pokemon
    • One of the best Pokemon players Werster attempted the battle with fisher 50 times and only won twice

Trivia

  • The predecessor to this game is Pocket Monsters Stadium or Pokémon Stadium. It was released only in Japan on August 1, 1998. It was largely unfinished with only 40 Pokémon available for use in battles.
  • Many of the 3D models from this game were reused in some GameCube titles and some Pokémon Center machines to get special event Pokémon, but have better looking textures.
  • Pokémon Stadium 2 was just Pokémon Stadium 1, but re-released to Japan. However the US Release was an actual sequel.
  • This game was originally going to be released for the Nintendo 64's 64DD add-on, but was later a cartridge game due to the failure of the N64DD.
