Don't let this cinematic trailer fool you, because the game is all false.

The Pokémon UNITE Opening Cinematic is seen in Pokémon UNITE game when it plays automatically before starting the title screen. It can still be replayed with a Replay option in the title screen or stay on it for long enough. It was released on June 17, 2021 on YouTube.

Qualities That Cannot Prepare To UNITE

  1. This, alongside its initial trailer on the June 2020 Pokémon Presents, are controversial, which explains the former's details below.
  2. This trailer is promoted for a MOBA game developed by a controversial company, Tencent, yes really.
  3. Contrary to the final game itself, this trailer has some poor grasp of source material:
    • Lucario's Aura Sphere is seen in the opening intro, but in-game it is Aura Cannon. Aura Sphere can fire an aura in midair, but not in the game, as it fires straight instead.
    • Cinderace can bypass the orange team's flux zone without using anything, even though it can slow down onto it. Pikachu also does the same thing like Cinderace's.
      • Cinderace can jump on Snorlax and Mr. Mime, even though jumping is not in the mechanic of the game itself
      • Cinderace can also score in the enemy team's goal zone base area, even though it can work after destroying the other goal zones.
    • The battle starts on 10 minutes, but since this intro is short, the timer suddenly ends earlier than usual.
    • Fletchling does not seem to evolve into Talonflame sooner in this trailer, despite the time nearly running out. Fletchling can evolve to Talonflame sooner once it farms to the Wild Pokémon, defeat the enemy team's Pokémon, or score in the goal in-game.
  4. The voice acting in this cinematic trailer, which is a missed opportunity (and counts as a false advertising) to include it in the game.
    • Outside of Pikachu, Lucario's voice is plagiarized in the Pokken games.
  5. Pikachu, the main character of this intro, is ironically placed in the orange team (the enemy team), which is confusing since the orange team is for the opponents team while the purple team is for the player's team. Same goes to Cinderace, where it is placed in the purple team, despite being the antagonist. So, Pikachu would have been the main antagonist while Cinderace would have been the main protagonist.
    • Lucario and Talonflame (as Fletchling) are also placed in the enemy team just like Pikachu, alongside Snorlax and Mr. Mime, and Absol is placed in the player's team, which are also confusing.
  6. Absol is mean-spirited to Fletchling, despite being weak and attempts to farm to evolve into Talonflame.
  7. Greninja (as Forakie), Garchomp (as Gible), and Slowbro (as Slowpoke) serve no purpose in this trailer whatsoever.
  8. The ending is anti-climatic as Pikachu and Cinderace duel for the goal in the last minute, but it cuts straight to the logo itself. After the logo, the trailer shows the gameplay itself and it has nothing to do with this cinematic trailer, making it almost completely pointless.

Qualities That Prepare To UNITE

  1. Despite this, the trailer itself is better than the game itself.
  2. The music is good.
  3. The animation is fluid and amazing.
  4. Absol does get a comeuppance by Lucario after attacking Fletchling, which causes the latter to throw an Aura Sphere on it.

Trivia
