Potion Permit is a 2022 video game developed by MassHive Media and published by PQube.
Summary
The town of Moonbury has always been wary of the advances of the outside world, preferring to rely on their traditional methods of healing. Until one day, when the mayor's daughter falls ill, and the local witch doctor can do nothing to help her, they are forced to look outside their small community for help.
The Medical Association decides to send their most accomplished Chemist - you - to help cure the mayor's daughter and convince the residents of Moonbury of the wonders of modern alchemy. Gain their trust and tend to each person when they fall ill in this open-ended sim RPG.
Why It Rocks
- The idea of making about farming simulation with potion is really great and well executed.
- The graphics is really great with sprite work are anime style and looks really great.
- Tight controls for sim games.
- The gameplay is really great, even this game can be a bit repetitive. Your objective is do the main or side quest, complete all task objectives with each quest.
- There so many of gameplay mechanics:
- The fishing mini games, where you fishing in the pond to catching fish, you press the button to pull. But be careful, when the rope is red, you must cooldown for few seconds, then pull again, rinse and repeat.
- There's also the foraging system, where you do crafting your potion in the Tetris style.
- When the patient are sick, you need to check the body by playing the minigames. This minigames was Rhythm games, you pressing the button in the right time. There's also a Shoot'em up style, where you dodge the virus without any hits.
- If you want more potion, you need have a telescope to looking and reveal the potion.
- There so many monster in this game, each monster has own strategy and if you did, you get the resources to uses as potion or as objective with each quest.
- You can cut the resource like tree or plant by using axe or sickle
- There so many cute/sad/funny moments here and there.
- The map is huge and each map has 3 different area:
- Plains area, where the monster and creature are harmless, but this is the beginning of the area.
- Snow area, where the monster and creature are aggressive, but it's more resources than the plains area.
- Desert area, where the monster and creatures is more aggressive than the previous one, but more resources to harvest.
- The character is likeable.
- In the store, you can buy the food to refilling your energy or if you want stronger, you need upgrade like tools and health.
- You can buy the plant or resource to making thing easier without grinding a lot.
- You can also upgrade your house and clinic, but you need more resources to been upgrade.
- The community quest is really great if these quest are repetitive.
- If you want more money, you can sell the potion or complete the community quest.
- The ending is pretty decent, after the chemist restored all death plant that was abandoned for long time ago, the chemist rewarded as the good chemist in the town.
- If you get 100% completion, you get the best ending, where mayor rewarded with moonstone that now has been restored.
Bad Qualities
- The gameplay is quite repetitive, you do same objective over and over, and worse is this game is quietly grinding, making this game can be tiring for some people.
- Not only that, but you need forging the potion to cure people and you need grinding the resources to crafting it.
- The technical performance is little bit issue with some player has been report that the game has bugs and glitches, making this game is a bit unplayable.
- Some quest can be hard and tedious.
- Some character are unlikable.
- Upgrading house and clinic need more resources and you must grinding a lot to upgrade, make this game is really tedious.
- If you want to get the best ending and 100% completion, this means you must complete all quest, full friendship, and photo cards, making this game might be impossible to complete.
