Pou is a virtual pet game for Android, iOS, and BlackBerry 10 phones developed and published by Paul Salameh, also known as Zakeh. The game requires you to take care of a triangle alien called Pou.

Why It's Your Favorite Pet Alien

  1. The game reformulated the Tamagotchi-style genre to fit the tastes of the 2010s.
  2. The player character is a cute little alien.
  3. Numerous minigames to earn money from. All of them can be played for free since the start.
  4. Pou's wardrobe has a beautiful and wide selection of clothes and colors.
  5. The music in the minigames are very catchy and nicely made, and are also nice to listen to.
  6. It even has accounts, which is pretty cool in case the app gets deleted.
  7. It is completely free to play, so it's a pretty good alternative for people who can't afford Tamagotchis.
  8. The game can teach the value of earning money and spending it wisely.

Bad Qualities

  1. The main room screens have no background music, making it boring and empty, though relaxing.
  2. The notification sound can be quite annoying. Thankfully, this can be disabled in the settings.
  3. The Android version seems to be the only version that is free to play.

Trivia

  • This game is popular in Latin American countries, as many memes, fan games, and fan art have originated here.
    • The game has seemed to have a resurgence in the 2020s, mainly in memes involving the sad Pou plush.
  • Rumors that the game has been cancelled have started when the game was inexplicably removed from Google Play in December 2019. The developer only removed it temporarily to update the game.
  • A clone of the game called Mou was released for Windows Phone. More virtual pet games with similar mechanics to Pou have been released, such as the Moy series by Frojo Apps, the My Boo games by Tapps Games, and the My Chu games by Kiku Apps.
