Princess Sara (小公女プリンセスセーラ, Purinsesu Sēra, lit. Little Princess Sara), also spelled as Princess Sarah, is a Japanese anime series produced by Nippon Animation, based on Frances Hodgson Burnett's 1905 novel, A Little Princess.[1] Spanning 46 episodes, it originally premiered in 1985 across Japan on Fuji Television as the 11th series of Nippon Animation's World Masterpiece Theater.

Why It Runs A Diamond Mine in British Raj

1. the story follows Sara Crewe, the young daughter of, Captain Ralph Crewe, who is extremely wealthy due to running a diamond mine in British-ruled India. She starts attending an all-girl's seminary boarding school in London, where she excels in her studies and is loved deeply by many of her friends and classmates.
2. Likable characters, such as Sara Crewe, Becky, Peter, Ermengarde St. John and Amelia Minchin.
3. The opening and ending themes is very great and nice.
4. This anime was very popular in Philippines with various rebroadcasts since then.[3] Its popularity inspired a live-action film Sarah... Ang Munting Prinsesa and a primetime TV drama series.[4]
5. Sara's relationship with Peter is so cute in episode 19.
6. Great voice acting, especially from Sumi Shimamoto and Andrea Kwan.
7. The animation looks very good and nice.

Bad Qualities

1. This anime was not aired on TV in United Kingdom because the following British colonized of India.
2. Unlikable characters, such as Miss Minchin, Lavinia, Molly and James.
3. This single episode was very tearjerking moments, the audiences feel so bad for Sara after she endured a lot of mistreatments and abuses.

Trivia

• This series of English dub which aired on Animax Asia has been lost since 2004.
• Caeser The Cat was voiced by Eiko Yamada which is the similar to June Foray voice of Lucifier from Cinderella (1950 film).
• in mid-September 2014, Filipino fans started making Image Macros using screencaps from the series (with occasional cameos from other World Masterpiece Theater characters), with the text typically making up a random context for the screencap. As of October 1, 2014, the meme's Facebook page has over 116,000 likes. A particular recurring one involves a screen of everybody standing around Sarah as she reads a letter. Said letter typically reads like a text message, answering machine, or anything that can be done by a modern phone. Sarah is turned into someone who has an obsession with Peeling Potatoes, frequently being shopped into photos of McDonald's fries, or of Potato Corner, a popular kiosk franchise that sells fries. Else, the text just has her somehow talking about potatoes (or peeling them). The meme has brought the series back into the Filipino public consciousness and daytime variety shows have started doing skits parodying the series. Additionally, ABS-CBN, the network that first aired it in the 1990's, has begun to show reruns.
