Prom Wrecker is the 5th episode of the second season of Victorious.
Plot
Tori decides to host a prom at Hollywood Arts which cancelled Jade's play and now she's out for revenge.
Bad Qualities That Wreck the Prom
- Tori is at her absolute worst in this episode. When she learns that Hollywood Arts hasn't had a prom for so long, she decides to change that by hosting it on the same day Jade is going to do her play without a care about how it was a big deal for her which caused Jade to get angry.
- Jade, while sympathetic, is also no better because instead of trying to talk it out with Tori, decided to get revenge and sabotage Tori's "prome" such as playing scary video which unsettled the guests, hiring Doug the Diaper Guy to drive the people away, and cancelling the band.
- Though this is entirely justifiable as Tori got her play cancelled.
- Andre's girlfriend has no other personality other than kissing him, making her a filler character.
- The name of Cat's boyfriend sounds ridiculous and it does sound made up. I mean Tug, really? No wonder Rex thought he was made up.
- This episode tries so hard to make Tori look innocent and Jade the bad guy because sure what Jade did was not okay, but at least she had a good reason to do it but Tori however isn't so perfect either because she kinda caused this because she got Jade's play cancelled.
- Nonsensical moment: Tug turns out to be real after all.
- Trina forcing others to vote for her as prom queen by having Sinjin hack into TheSlap is cheating.
- Bad Ending: Tori casts Jade as Prome Queen and Doug the Diaper Guy as Prome King just to keep her from ruining the prome which the guy accepts and carries Jade out of the school. So Tori not only got the prome she wanted but also got away with ruining Jade's play.
Good Qualities
- Andre, Robbie, Rex, Cat, Sinjin and Sikowitz are all likable characters.
- And although despite being unlikable, Jade is a sympathetic character in this episode.
- Tori catching Sinjin licking the balloons is probably one of the funniest moments in this episode.
- The song "Best Friend's Brother" is enjoyable to listen to.
Reception
"Prom Wrecker" proved to be one of the most divisive episodes in the series with fans' reception largely being based on who they thought was in the right. Those that believed that Jade was justified greatly disliked the episode while those who believed Tori had simply managed to reserve the time slot before Jade enjoyed it.
Trivia
- Beck is absent in this episode because Avan Jogia was in Canada while the episode was being filmed. On TheSlap.com, Beck said that he was going to be in Canada, and Jade mentions in the episode that Beck was in Canada.
