Rabbids Invasion (French: Les Lapins Crétins: Invasion) is a French-American animated television series that premiered on August 3, 2013, in France 3. The series is a co-production of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, TeamTO, and CNC. The show is based on the Raving Rabbids video game series produced by Ubisoft.

Plot

The Rabbids from Ubisoft's, "Raving Rabbids", video game series star in their television series. They explore earth, and discover new things.

Bad Qualities

  1. First of all, the Rabbids are completely dumbed down, they went from naive and funny characters in the games to idiotic and very annoying creatures in the show, causing mayhem and yelling most of the time.
    • The Rabbids are also mean-spirited, a good example is when they interfered with a marriage. The Rabbids are animal abusers, too, an example is when they used the chickens' butts as egg shooters in Omelet Party.
    • Additionally, the show was only made, to cash in on the success of Despicable Me 2, a 2013 animated crime comedy, that features the minions.
  2. Much like the 2015 Minions movie, there is a lot of toilet humor. That's what most comedy focuses on.
    • While the Despicable Me franchise has this type of humor, they don't rely on it that much. Well, except for Minions.
  3. While it's catchy, the theme song is extremely bland, and irritating, due to it being laced, with the Rabbids' infuriating yelling. The same thing can be said for the outro theme.
  4. Many of the episodes are boring, and generic, and aren't as good as the Raving Rabbids games.
    • In addition, they have repetitive environments, as most of them take place in either the city, beach, desert, mall or Rabbidland, which is just a junkyard added, in season 2 of the show.
  5. The show has many attempts at being funny, but mostly didn't work miserably doing so.
  6. The plot is barely existent, as most of the show consists of idiotic Rabbids and poorly executed jokes.
  7. Bland, and awful side characters.

Good Qualities

  1. Passable, appealing and smooth CGI animation by TeamTO, who did Angelo Rules, which looks like the video game franchise, it is based on.
  2. Decent sound effects and sound mixing.
  3. Good voice acting for the Rabbids and other characters.
  4. Some characters weren't bland, and are likable.
  5. Catchy theme song, despite being bland and annoying.
  6. The show did kinda improve during the second and third seasons, but those are still mediocre.
    • Thankfully, it did improve even more so in the fourth season thanks to Aardman Entertainment, the company that made Wallace and Gromit, and Shaun the Sheep, being involved.
      • Speaking of that season, at least the Rabbids redeemed themselves and acted like their original counterparts.

Reception

Rabbids Invasion received mixed to negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. The series got a 5.4 on IMDb.

Trivia

  • Aardman, the studio behind Wallace & Gromit, was originally going to help produce the series.
  • In China, it became the most-watched TV show with over billions of views and counting.
  • The late Olivier Jean-Marie, who worked in shows made by Xilam, including Zig & Sharko, a show he created, wrote the first episode Omelet Party.
