"Raising a Baby is a lot of Trouble!" is the episode 2 of Ojamajo Doremi Sharp, and episode 53 of the Ojamajo Doremi series overall.

Plot

Officially mothers for the newly born witch baby, the girls learn a lesson in responsibility as they try adjusting to their new shop.

Why It Didn't Get Any Troubles

  1. Lot of emotional moments are present in this episode, such as when Doremi raise Hana (who was just a baby by then), especially when she stopped crying after Doremi take her to her arms.
    • Even better, Doremi was the one who founded the name of the baby, which is named Hana-chan as stated before.
  2. Despite mostly being an emotional episode, it still had lot of funny moments much like the rest of the series such as when the main characters cannot stop the lever or simply the beginning where Pop make funny jokes when Doremi dad say that she was a big problem when she was just a baby, even though that was a bit mean-spirited.
  3. The characters are very likable as usual, especially Doremi herself since she was the only one to not being angry for little to no reasons like when she choosed Hana name, and that her friends wanted to choose a name instead, which made Hana crying.
  4. Good soundtrack, such as the musics playing when the lever didn't stopped well, or even the introduction as usual, also the musics fit well with the episode premise.
  5. The plot is very well done, as it is about taking care of a baby, and it's one of the few shows to get this episode concept right, unlike some other exemples such as this one.
  6. It did show both Doremi and her mom origins, which is great and we know what was the past of both of them, which was complicated and not easy.
  7. Great animation as usual, as it had great details and the animation errors are once again not present at all, which is impressive for 2000 standards.
  8. Good Moral: Taking care of a children is not easy and it should be done right.
    • Another good moral is that you doesn't automatically become a mom/dad when you get a child but only when you take care of it well.
  9. While it shows a diaper change, at least it doesn't feature gross out contents in those scenes, this show that this series is one of the few 2000s/1990s show for childrens to never include gross out humors or at least not that much.
  10. The ending, while it doesn't really end well, is somewhat funny because after Doremi found out about the fact that Pop eat the whole steak, she cry and then there's her dad that tell her to not crying and her mom that do a funny but angry face to the dad, which is hilarous even if it's a bad moment for Doremi.

Bad Qualities

  1. The ending end with Doremi once again losing the chance of eating a steak, which made her crying, but to be honest the problem is that she said that she isn't hungry before.
    • The ending is still a bit funny howewer, and isn't that bad.
  2. While a great and sad moment, the scene where Doremi mom said that before Doremi was born, she wanted to end her life, and the backgrounds of those scenes we're very dark, which could traumatized some childs if they are under 10 or even at 10.
  3. The diaper change scenes are inappropriate, especially for a kid show but thankfully it is a bit censored, although not in the best way.

Reception

The episode received positive reviews by critics and fans because of the heartwarming moments and the fact that it tell the origins of Doremi, and they founded the episode to be cute overall.

Trivia

  • This is the first episode of the season to exclude someone from the apprentice group, this being Onpu.
    • This is also one of the first few episodes to exclude Onpu since her appearance.
  • The flower pots the girls use match them:
    • Hazuki's is shaped like the bottom half of a violin, with H's around it.
    • Onpu's is rounded in a shape reminiscent of her scrunchie and has music note pattern.
    • Aiko's resembles a thick curl and has an A on it.
    • Doremi has the biggest and her full name wrote on it, which is most-likely based on her personality.
