Even when old and look young inside, you DON'T turn this old when turning 70! Also, this episode started the downfall of the original Ren & Stimpy.

Ren's Retirement is the tenth episode of the third season of The Ren & Stimpy Show, and aired on April 2, 1994.
Plot
Strong, energetic, Ren's tenth birthday comes around. However, when Stimpy reminds him he's 70 in dog years, Ren becomes a crazy old coot and soon begins to plan for his death. Eventually, Ren has himself buried in a coffin packed with all the amenities of a modern home, and even allows Stimpy to move in. Wilbur Cobb presides over the funeral, and Ren's tombstone reads "I'll thank you to not drag your butt over my grave". Ren and Stimpy enjoy their domestic afterlife, until their "next door neighbor", a giant worm (obviously based on Fred Flintstone), invites himself over for dinner. By the end of dinner (and the episode), the worm leaves the coffin, with Ren and Stimpy being reduced to fleshless husks.
Why It Needs To Retire
- First off, it is a 14-minute Ren butt-monkey episode. Ren himself is also pretty unlikable as he acts like a typical grumpy old man almost thoughout.
- This episode handles death in a very creepy and dark messed way in a kids show like the original Ren and Stimpy, that caused the episode being banned from Nickelodeon as a result.
- Ren's transformation to an old man is disgusting to look at, especially when one of his ears gets stuffed with grey hair.
- Not all people who turn 70 get this old. In fact, how Ren acts is stereotypical for old men, which can make this offensive.
- The episode's ending is very disturbing, when a worm based on Fred Flintstone eats the insides of Ren and Stimpy and leaves their corpses behind. Yet, Ren and Stimpy are both STILL ALIVE!
- This episode started the downfall of The Ren & Stimpy Show, which made the original series have more bad episodes like this one.
Redeeming Qualities
- Stimpy is at least likable thoughout.
- The voice acting is alright.
- The first two minutes are actually pretty decent.
Reception
Due to the really dark subject matter about death, the episode was banned from Nickelodeon. Despite this, it aired on NickRewind and MTV.
