Ricky Sprocket: Showbiz Boy is a Canadian animated television series created by David Fine and Allison Snowden and produced by Teletoon. It first aired on Teletoon on August 31, 2007, before making its debut on the American network Nicktoons on January 21, 2008. Reruns continued to air on Nicktoons until April 5, 2010.

Plot

The show follows 10-year-old child star Ricky Sprocket as he goes through everyday life and showbiz life.

Why It's Not the Biggest Showbiz Boy

  1. The character designs are ugly and lazily made and look like they were stolen from Corneil and Bernie (another Nicktoons show).
  2. It looks like a poor man's Bob and Margaret, which is ironic considering the show was made by the same people who made said show.
  3. One episode revolved around burping. Seriously? That is so disgusting.
  4. One of the characters who is a news reporter, Vanessa Stimlock, is extremely annoying.
  5. Most of the story-lines are weak and bland.
  6. It rip-offs Being Ian, another Canadian cartoon.
  7. Ricky's scream is very excruciating to hear and will get into your last nerves.
  8. The paparazzi (or his fans) never leave Ricky alone as Vanessa Stimlock and her crew tend to stalk and harass Ricky, his friends, and family over extremely minor things, as some of the news reports on Ricky aren't even that newsworthy or important, like getting a C- on a history test.
  9. Ricky could be considered a Butt-Monkey since he gets abused all the time.
  10. Mediocre voice acting, especially from voice actors/actresses Ashleigh Ball (Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Mary Test from Johnny Test, and Blythe Baxter from Littlest Pet Shop (2012)), Andrea Libman (Pinkie Pie also from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and Cassie from Dragon Tales), Jayne Eastwood (Rabbit from Peep and the Big Wide World and Nestor's Mother from Scaredy Squirrel), Tabitha St. Germain (Rarity also from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Nazz from the first season of Ed, Edd n Eddy, Olive Oyl from the 2004 CGI film Popeye's Voyage: The Quest for Pappy, Martha from Martha Speaks, Kootie Pie from the last two DiC Mario cartoons (The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and the Super Mario World animated series), and Helouise from Jimmy Two-Shoes), Scott McNeil (Mr. White also from Johnny Test, and Voltar from League of Super Evil), Jeff Lumby (Racoon from Peep and the Big Wide World), Brian Drummond (Vegeta from the Ocean dub of Dragon Ball Z and Copy Vegeta from the English dub of Dragon Ball Super), and others.
  11. Ricky's dad, Leonard, can sometimes get mad at his son over things that aren't a big deal whatsoever.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. It does have some funny moments.
  2. The theme song is pretty catchy.
  3. Decent flash animation, background design and art style despite the character designs.
  4. It does teach some good life lessons.
