Robin Hood's Quest is a stealth adventure game developed by Broadsword Interactive and published by Oxygen Games. This game is based on the medieval British folklore hero of the same name and was released on February 16, 2007 for PC and PlayStation 2.

Plot

The girl Robin Hood fell in love with is kidnapped by the Sheriff of Nottingham and the player's task is to help Robin Hood free her from the sheriff.

Gameplay

The gameplay is simple, you perform tasks commissioned by the inhabitants of the forest or castle, which consist only in bringing things, the player opens gates with arrows and has to escape from villains.

Why This Quest Sucks

  1. The box art is very poorly made; its just an image with four arrows being shot at with trees being shown in the back ground at night, this makes it look more like a cover of a book that came out in the early 2000s then a box art of a game made in 2007.
    1. Additionally, you can clearly see the trees as if they were illuminated by daylight but the sky shows that it is night as stated earlier. Also, Robin Hood is not on the cover.
  2. There are no cutscenes at all, just text with narration as if the creators were lazy and didn't want to make renders trying to justify themselves with boring texts, which is unforgivable by the standards of 2007 as those games that were made back then had fully fledged cutscenes.
  3. The graphics are very poor by PlayStation 2 standards and are more like a late game on the PlayStation 1, the angular models and bland textures deserve particular courage, and the fact that the game came out in 2007 doesn't help either, other games that came out for PlayStation 2 such as, God of War 2, Thrillville: Off The Rails, Burnout Dominator, Ratatouille, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night(as in the PlayStation 2 version), Manhunt 2, Spider-Man 3 (Vicarious Visions version) and Shrek The Third also came out in 2007 and they look miles better.
  4. The gameplay is very repetitive, because it's basically just completing simple missions that look almost the same, opening doors with arrows and escaping from enemies, and all in all it's like a game from 1987 instead of 2007.
  5. For some odd reason, it didn't get a next-gen Xbox 360/PS3 port despite coming out in 2007.
  6. No boss fights what-so-ever.
  7. The voice acting is terrible and more specifically the voice of one actor who is the only actor in the game because all the main character does is either cry kneel when caught or say in a desperate voice that the door is locked which gets annoying very quickly.
  8. The level design is very boring because it's mostly just a forest, only occasionally we'll get a different location, but it's just the inside of a crumbling castle.
  9. Bad controls, as it is hard to control the camera which will make you rather run into walls or even into enemies without seeing them, also the hero himself moves slowly.
  10. The stealth missions are far worse than Daemon Summoner and Beverly Hills Cop; if a guard sees Robin, he will chase him and then Robin Hood falls on his knees, as there is nowhere to hide or to get rid of (kill) the guards because there is no weapon, not even a knife or a bow, which is mentioned below.
  11. The source material has been rather horribly misunderstood to the point that even a three-year-old would be able to better understand, in culture Robin Hood is a strong and brave warrior and archer, however in the game he is shown as a cowardly and weak slouch who is completely defenseless.
  12. You are defenseless, as Robin Hood cannot use your bow and arrows at the guards. They are only used to get past the gate which is rather stupid and makes no sense at all because the gates should rather be opened with keys and arrows are to kill opponents and gives the impression as if the creators were drunk and it's an insult since this is Robin Hood's iconic weapon of choice.
  13. False advertisement: the game says that the Sheriff of Nottingham has captured Maid Marian, but you never actually see him.
  14. There is only one cutscene in the entire game.
  15. Robin Hood's Quest is ridicules short, as it can be beaten in less then 45 minutes, even Super Mario 64 (which keep in mind, was the very first 3D game to be made, and was made for the Nintendo 64)takes much longer to beat.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. The very idea of creating a stealth-adventure game about Robin Hood is even an interesting idea despite the terrible execution.

Reception

The game, although not even noticed by critics, was noticed by online reviewers and toytubers who criticized it for literally everything and considered it the worst Robin Hood game.
