RoboCop: Rogue City is a first-person shooter game developed by Teyon and published by Nacon based on the film series of the same name. Serving as an interquel to Robocop 2 and 3, the game was released on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows. A Nintendo Switch port was planned but cancelled.
Plot
Set between the events of Robocop 2 and 3, Robocop comes across a conflict that will replace the Detroit Police Force, with a new army of robots.
Why It Stays Out of Trouble
- Nice graphics, despite being outdated.
- Good voice acting, with Peter Weller once again returning as Robocop.
- It is a huge improvement over the previous game.
- Excellent combat, with shooting being almost as great as Cyberpunk 2077. Aside from shooting, you can also pick up objects to throw at enemies such as explosives, sledgehammers, and even other enemies.
- Good soundtrack, especially the main menu rendition of the Robocop theme.
- Branching dialogue that can depend on the public's trust for Robocop.
- Decent challenge. While the game may seem too easy due to how easy it is to kill enemies, some, like the Max Becker's robot forces can deal serious damage.
- Despite there being only two boss fights, both the ED-209 and Robocop 2 model fights are good and provide serious challenge.
- Stays faithful to the source material it is based on.
- Meta-commentary: This game proves that no matter how outdated a film franchise is, a great quality product is that it needs for the franchise to be revived. And this game showed.
Bad Qualities
- Forgettable storyline.
- The graphics, while good, look like a generation behind.
- The game can be repetitive as it has no open world to more varied, though the game will have a variation in different area, despite how limited in this game.
- Not to mention, there's only 2 bosses: ED-209 and Robocop 2, which is more repetitive as you fight the same bosses in between area.
Reception
"You fucked it up!/You done fucked it up!" |
RoboCop: Rogue City received "mixed or average" reviews from critics, while the PC version received "generally favorable" reviews, according to review aggregator website Metacritic.
