"Saved You!" is the 10th episode of Season 12 of Thomas & Friends, it aired on September 12, 2008, in the UK and on December 28, 2008, in the US.

Why It Didn't Save Us

  1. Thomas is tasked with picking up a firefighter who, in reality, would not receive a medal simply for saving a cat from a tree.
  2. This episode signifies the beginning of Thomas' flanderization, where he believes he ought to be a hero, seemingly disregarding the heroic deeds he performed in prior seasons and the lessons he learned from them.
  3. Thomas ought to have noticed Rocky lifting the water tower. Moreover, the method Rocky employed to lift the tower was perilous. If the intention was to relocate the water tower, it would have been safer to dismantle it and transport it in segments.
    • This scene is also pointless because it is never resolved.
  4. Thomas made a correct decision in moving Toby off the main line, but hiding Toby was unnecessary. Moreover, since they were near a signal box, the signalman should have ensured that Gordon came to a stop.
  5. The appearances of Duck, Harvey, Donald, and Douglas seem to be fan service since they don't serve a significant purpose. Harvey did remove the tree from the tracks, but Donald and Douglas are present without any trucks or coaches. Duck was involved in moving the water tower, yet this is a task almost any engine could have managed.
  6. Bad moral: You can cause a lot of trouble for others and get no punishment.
    • This makes Thomas come off as a Karma Houdini as he normally would be scolded for his actions, but here, they brush it off like it was nothing.
  7. Like most episodes in the HiT Model era, this episode follows the same stupid three-strike formula which is extremely tiring.
  8. The notorious scene featuring Thomas' smile is not only unsettling but also extremely cringe-inducing, serving as a prime illustration of the dated visuals from this season.

Saved Qualities

  1. Duck, Harvey, Donald, and Douglas' appearances may have been added into the episode for the three strikes to happen, but it was nice to see them, nonetheless.
  2. Duck's face is the correct size in this episode rather than being smaller as it is for his other appearances in the season.

Reception

"Saved You!" was despised by many Thomas fans with it being considered the worst episode of Season 12 and one of the worst episodes of the entire show. It received a 3.6 on IMDb.
