"Scaredy Engines" is the twelfth episode in the sixth season of Thomas & Friends.
Plot
On Halloween, Thomas continually teases Percy for being a "scaredy engine." Yet, the situation reverses when Thomas himself is frightened at the smelter's yard.
Why It's Not a Scaredy Engine
- The concept is quite intriguing.
- Although still flawed in some areas, Alec Baldwin's narration is better than usual for Season 6.
- This episode boasts enhanced visuals relative to the rest of Season 6, particularly in the smelter scenes, which radiate an especially eerie ambiance that perfectly complements the episode's tone.
- The scene in which Thomas dashes from the smelter's yard, shouting "The ghost engine is after me!" is quite humorous.
- Thomas (at the end of the episode), Duck and Percy are likable as usual and have very good chemistry in this episode.
- The episode effectively employs the classic Awdry formula, as Thomas receives his just deserts for mocking Percy.
- Good moral: it's okay to be scared.
- Good ending: Thomas expresses his regret to Percy for his teasing, and together, they enjoy the fireworks display from Tidmouth Sheds.
Scaredy Engine Quality
- Throughout most of the episode, Thomas is quite disagreeable, constantly teasing Percy for being a "scaredy engine." Nevertheless, he eventually gets his just deserts and subsequently offers an apology to Percy at the episode's conclusion.
