"Scary Godparents" is the fourteenth episode in the second season of The Fairly OddParents.
Plot
On Halloween, Timmy wants a Jack-o-Bot costume as his Halloween costume, but the only four Jack-o-Bot costumes in existence were won in a contest, which Trixie, Veronica, Tad, and Chad won because they bribed the judges. To make things worse, Vicky is being paid by Timmy's parents to take Timmy and his friends trick-or-treating, and forces him to wear a mummy costume made out of toilet paper. Vicky gets all of the candy, while Timmy and his friends get nothing. Realizing that Vicky is scary and gets more candy because of it, Timmy wishes that everyone's Halloween costumes were real and scary.
Why It Rocks
- The Pumpkinator looks very cool for a Crash Nebula villain, along with the Jack-o-Bots and even more so when seeing them really fight thanks to Timmy's real and scary wish.
- Timmy, Chester, AJ, Cosmo and Wanda trick-or-treating was decent, despite Vicky taking all the candy, Timmy getting chased by the Buxaplentys' dog and them getting mocked by the rich kids.
- Timmy's song about him wanting the Halloween costumes to be real and scary is extremely catchy, spooktacular and relatable.
- The real and scary Halloween costumes Timmy wishes for look very cool and something you would expect straight from a horror movie.
- Even before Timmy made the real and scary wish, the fake costumes looked good/decent.
- Timmy's plan to stop the Pumpkinator is very clever and ingenious, as he combines all the costumes from the clearance bin into one big costume, along with how he scares Mark into him thinking that Earth has declared war with Yugopotamia.
- "Good thing I got part of the Crash Nebula that kicks butt!" - Timmy.
- Vicky getting sick from too much candy at the end was well-deserved karma for her cruel actions.
- Good Ending: After Timmy wishes for the costumes to be fake again, Mark unleashes a "meteor" to Earth (actually candy), and so all the kids eat all the candy they can while Vicky gets sick. Although they go to the dentist right after, at least they realized what they did was hurting their teeth.
The Only Bad Quality
- Tommy's parents were pretty cruel and careless hare, as they give Tommy's video games, all of his CDs and even the money saved for his birthday to Trixie, Tad, Chad and Veronica. But for Chester and AJ, they give them lame advice notes.
- Vicky is extremely mean-spirited and intolerable for berating the kids to just to get her some Halloween candy and then just taking it all away from them, and for wrapping Tommy in lots of bandages to the point where he couldn't move for a bit.
- The Buxaplenty family were also intolerable for not giving the kids candy just because their costumes weren't robots to the point where their dog chased Timmy.
Reception
- It holds a rating of 7.8/10 on IMDB.
Trivia
- There's a VHS of the same name, which includes this episode.
- The Pumpkinator would later return in season 5's "Escape From Unwish Island".
- Some things parody other types of media:
- The Jack-o-Bots costumes parody the main characters of the Transformers franchise.
- Vicky's insult, "Where did you get the stupid European costumes, Dorks R Us?" is a reference to a now bankrupt toy store, Toys 'r' Us.
- The song where it rains candy is similar to the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory one, "Pure Imagination".
