What an extremely bitter and a scary way to end the franchise on a very low note.

Scary Movie 5 is a 2013 horror-comedy spoofing a variety of horror films and is the fifth and final film in the Scary Movie franchise.
Plot
Much bizarre activity follows after a husband and wife bring their newborn infant home from the hospital. When they realize that a demon is stalking their family, they consult paranormal specialists and install numerous cameras to drive out the pesky spirit.
Why It's Extremely Bitter
- The movie feels pointless as Scary Movie 4 was meant to be the final movie in the series since Cindy's arc was over and the ending implied that nothing scary would ever happen again.
- Due to the story arc being over, it has little to no connection to the previous movies, as characters like Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris) and Brenda Meeks (Regina Hall) aren't even mentioned, making it feel like a reboot rather than an actual sequel.
- The film's story was so badly written and poor that it badly parodies the Paranormal Activity film saga.
- Not to mention that there was already another Paranormal Activity parody movie that came out early that year (A Haunted House), making this feel like a rip-off.
- All of the new characters in the movie are very unlikable and atrocious, with the main characters Jody and Dan Sanders being the most examples as they act very abusive to their children.
- Like most movies, it has very pointless and unnecessary cameos by Mike Tyson, Katt Williams, Snoop Dogg, the late Mac Miller, Jerry O'Connell, Lindsay Lohan, and Charlie Sheen which only existed for the latter to start the film stupidly.
- Due to being produced on a lower budget than its predecessors, it has very terrible visual effects, such as when Charlie Sheen gets thrown out of the bedroom, it's fake CGI, heck, even the first movie (which was released to 2000!) had way better effects than this.
- Poor and laughable costume designs, especially for the Madea character who looks like a character from Disaster Movie.
- The jokes aren't even remotely funny, with many taking a long time to finish or are annoying.
- Unlike other films from the franchise, this film isn't really scary at all, despite the film being called Scary Movie, while the other films were indeed spoofs, they also had some scary moments as well.
- Despite the gimmick of the franchise being a parody of horror films, it also parodies Inception, Black Swan and Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which are not horror movies.
- It completely tarnishes the reputation of the first four movies, which were pretty funny and better than this.
- Extreme overuse of racist jokes, sex jokes, and fart jokes, which the other films rarely used.
- It has abysmal cinematography that makes the film look like behind-the-scenes footage.
- In the scene where the characters are driving their car through the forest, it's a scene ripped straight out of Stuart Little.
- Horrid direction from Malcolm D. Lee, who would later be the director of Space Jam: A New Legacy.
- Because Harvey Weinstein ruined the Scary Movie franchise, this film killed the series for good.
The Only Redeeming Quality
- The scene with Snoop Dogg and Mac Miller was perhaps the only funny moment throughout the entire film.
Reception
The film currently holds a 4% "rotten" rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a critic consensus stating "Juvenile even by Scary Movie standards, this fifth installment offers stale pop culture gags that generate few laughs." Metacritic gives it an 11/100 ('overwhelming dislike") based on 16 reviews.
Box Office
The film opened up at #2 on its opening weekend with a domestic gross of $14,157,367. It would later gross $32,015,787. In foreign markets, the film made $46,362,957. Overall, the film made $78,378,744 worldwide against its $20 million budget.
