Plot
Much like the original, James Sunderland receives a mysterious message from his deceased wife Mary to meet her at a mysterious town.
Why It's A Special Game
- After twelve years since Silent Hill: Downpour, it's great to see Silent Hill back.
- Plus, many developers of the original game have returned to offer assistance to Bloober Team.
- The gameplay takes inspiration from the modern Resident Evil games, fixing the poor camera angles that plague old survival horror games.
- Spectacular graphics, you could see the details like the miniature stubble that is on James's face, the blood being on the characters during a fight, and the graffiti on the walls.
- Combat has been largely reworked to be more like Resident Evil, which ends up being an improvement to the original by a mile. Unlike Resident Evil, you can wield a melee weapon, which will conserve ammo for James.
- You can now dodge attacks.
- The Pyramid Head monster returns, and he's a nightmare in a good way again.
- The famous dog ending returns as well.
Bad Qualities
- The combat can sometimes feel clunky.
- While the voice acting isn't bad, it isn't as strong as it was in the original.
Reception
Silent Hill 2's remake received positive reviews. It was praised for its graphics, return to form, and improvements to the original. However, it was also subjected to fake negative reviews by disgruntled gamers. Wikipedia had to lock its page down to prevent this.
