Space Jam is a basketball video game based on the 1996 film of the same name. The game was developed by Sculptured Software and published by Acclaim Entertainment for the PlayStation, Sega Saturn and MS-DOS.

Gameplay

The game follows the rules of basketball with two teams of three-versus-three. The players play as a Tune Squad or Monstars and use any character available in Space Jam. The game features a two-player mode and uses ranks and stats.

Bad Qualities

NOTE: This page will focus on the console versions since the PC version is actually better.

  1. Very poor controls, even for sports game standards.
  2. Dreadful game stats. Michael Jordan already has a full ranking and the Monstars have very poor stats.
  3. You can't even play the basketball game; instead, you get Michael Jordan's shoes for him. This resembles the movie, but becomes tedious fast. Though, this only happens if you play as him.
  4. Bad mini-games that will pretty much interrupt the actual video game.
  5. Other than that, the game poorly follows the movie, only really focusing on the basketball game rather than the story of the movie.
  6. It doesn't really follow the actual rules of basketball, unlike the movie, which it actually shows.
  7. Lack of music 'despite there being other games like this that actually have music,.
  8. You can't shoot the ball just by pressing the button like in most basketball games, you have to hold it due to the poor controls.
  9. Dreadful animated sprites, even for Looney Tunes video game standards.

Good Qualities

  1. The graphics is kinda decent, at least on the PC version.
  2. The PC version is actually a way better version than the console versions with notably better controls.
