Spider-Man & Friends: Doc Ock's Challenge is a V.Smile game released in 2005.

Plot

Doc Ock has appeared in town, and Spider-Man, Storm and Thing must stop him.

Why There Is No Challenge

  1. Much like the previous game, the graphics are really poor and sub par, since there is not a lot of details and the colors palette is awful and very washed out, this is not helped by the fact that Ultimate Spider-Man came out the same year on the GBA (even though that console is superior) and look way better than this, and also is a much better game than this by the way.
  2. The mini games are really boring and repetitive to play, since they are way too simplistic and are also very boring, as expected from a V.Smile game.
  3. Awful voice acting that is of extremely poor quality and doesn't even sound like the Spider-Man cartoons or even the movies.
  4. Poor soundtrack that is extremely forgettable, bland and generic, as expected from this console, in fact you can even forget that it even play at times, this was also a problem in the Secret Mission game.
  5. The gameplay is really boring after a while and is fun for about 3 minutes, since it is not only repetitive but the action parts doesn't even had any challenge and are very poor too, this is not helped by the fact that as stated before, there is not mych mini games and they also are boring.
  6. The game is horribly short, in about 50 or even 45 minutes, the game is beaten, and it is not helped by the replay values being not present.
  7. Poor hit-detection.
  8. Abysmal framerate that is extremely slow and make the game even more boring and tedious than it already is.
  9. The controls are incredibly poor, since they are really unresponsive and clunky to deal with, but they still are better than Secret Mission.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Despite the flaws, the game can still be fun for kids, and it is a bit better than Secret Mission
  2. Some of the sprites are great.
  3. The concept of the game is decent but poorly executed.
