Star Trek Trexels is a video game for iOS and Android devices in which you are an admiral in control of a starship exploring a newly-discovered region of space, named the Trexelian Expanse, for the USS Valiant, whose current status is unknown. The game is a micro-manager in which you build rooms on the ship, train crew, and control them in their day-to-day functions.
Why It Doesn't Boldly Go Where No-one Has Gone Before
- First of all, this game is painfully pay-to-win due to the reason, and this game are full-priced at $3 on App Store and Play Store, and later the game become free to play, which is good, unfortunately, it still has a problem.
- While the gameplay is good and interesting as 2013 mobile games standard is feel uninspired, boring, tedious, and feel out of place for Star Trek standards.
- The game is so tedious as main objective is journey throughout the galaxy and making room for your ship by paying the Yellow and Blue crystal with most infamously are Dilithium crystal. Not to mention the minigames are very tedious, boring and uninspired.
- The planet minigames is boring and repetitive, you just tap the button repeatedly until it's complete.
- The worst minigames in this game is the ship minigames, this ship minigames is also tedious, repetitive and frustrating, too, you just collecting the crystal including the dilithium crystal. And when the space pirate grab the dilithium crystal, you shot him, and you got nothing, you're start all over again to grind.
- The game is plethora of Microtransaction, most notably the Dilithium crystal is so overpriced.
- The skins from previous Star Trek series/movies is very overpriced, which costing $15-$60 each.
- To unlock new zones, you need grinding a lot and it's the new zones is locked by paywall with the crystal with worst offender are Dilithium ones.
- The premium rooms also cost Dilithium Crystal that really overpriced.
- The timer is the worst enemy on this game, this is notably for the space mission, where you need wait to take the action. Some planet can be take too long and you need to wait for likely 1-5 day to unlock.
- The progression is very slow and horrible. To make the progression more forward, you need to complete each of the planet, and due to aforementioned reason, this thing is very tedious.
Redeeming Qualities
- The graphics are good and the art style reminiscent of 8-bit is really great.
- The concept is good, but the execution is very horrible.
- The soundtrack is really good.
Reception
"You fucked it up!/You done fucked it up!" |
Not many critics has been reviewing this, the game received mixed to negative, but generally negative by user. The game criticism for heavily pay-to-win and tedious gameplay, while praising for the graphics art-style.
Angry Joe gave the rating of 1/10 and it is the third game that get such an awful rating and it is only mobile games has reviewing it that get a bad score. It's also pointing out to the publisher and developer to being shame on you for CBS Interactive and YesGnome.
