Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a 2023 action-adventure game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. The game is the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, taking place five years after the events of the previous game and continuing the adventure of young Jedi Knight Cal Kestis, as he and his friends continue in their struggle to survive the tyranny of the Galactic Empire. A final installment of the series is under development.
Plot
Five years after the events of Fallen Order, Cal Kestis continues his fight with the Empire.
Why It Stands Against Darkness
- Amazing graphics with a large amount of attention to detail.
- The combat is just as amazing as it was in the previous game. The Slow force move is now an ultimate move Cal can do to get out of a tight situation.
- Three new stances were added here.
- Dual Wield allows Cal to attack fast and wield two lightsabers instead of one at the cost of damage.
- The Crossguard stance allows Cal to unleash heavy attacks.
- The blaster stance allows Cal to shoot enemies while wielding a lightsaber at the same time.
- Customization was heavily reworked. You can not only change Cal's lightsaber, blaster, and BD-1, but also his clothes, hair, and facial hair.
- The map has been expanded, with more activities for Cal to participate in. This includes playing war, hunting bounties, and listening to music.
- You can now fast-travel from a meditation point.
- Jedi Chambers can allow Cal to solve a puzzle and get a perk as a reward.
- Speaking of perks, they have been introduced to this game that shakes up the combat even more.
- Cal can now plant a garden!
- Excellent soundtrack.
- Excellent boss fights.
- Cere's death was very emotional.
- Darth Vader's return was once again badass.
Bad Qualities
- The gameplay is mostly the same as the original with some minor tweaks.
- The game wasn't optimized well on launch with frame rate drops, stuttering, and crashes, especially on the PC port.
- While the story is decent, there aren't that many memorable moments compared to Fallen Order.
Reception
Though criticized on launch, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor received "generally favorable" reviews from critics, according to review aggregator website Metacritic.
