Static Shock is a 2000 animated television series based on the Milestone/DC Comic's superhero Static.

Summary

A 14-year-old boy named Virgil Hawkins is dragged into a gang fight near a chemical plant, when the police appear to use tear gas, they accidentally blow up one of the containers that held a dangerous experimental chemical, the explosion causes a massive gas leak that everyone, including Virgil, inhale. A few days Virgil finds the gas mutated him into a "metahuman" with electrokinetic powers, unfortunately all the gangs and nearby thugs have also become metahumans and all of them decided to be supervillains. Virgil on the other hand becomes the superhero "Static" to fight the new metahuman threat.

Why It Puts A Shock To Your System!

1. Awesome animation, and it gets even better in seasons 3 and 4.
2. The intros are pretty catchy, and it was done by Richard Wold for the first two seasons and while Lil' Romeo and Master P for the last two seasons.
3. Great voice acting, especially Phil Lamarr as Static/Virgil Hawkins.
4. It's part of the DC Animated Universe. As such many characters from other DC shows often make guest appearances, such as The New Batman Adventures, Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond and Justice League. A future version of Static also made a two-part episode of Justice League Unlimited.
5. Likable heroes and allies such as Static/Virgil Hawkins, Gear/Richie Foley, Robert Hawkins, Sharon Hawkins, Adam Evans/Rubber-Band Man and She-Bang/Shenice Vale.
6. Cool villains like Ivan Evans/Ebon and Francis Stone/Hotstreak.
7. There are hilarious moments.
8. The action scenes are pretty cool and awesome to watch.
9. It is a very mature show that teaches good morals and tackles important topics such as: Underage gun prevention, racism against African-Americans, gang fights, death of a parent, PTSD, juvenile criminals, learning disabilities, prejudice against stereotypes, among others.
10. It teaches positive morals.

• Some of the crews from other shows were involved in this shows, including the comic's creators, Dwayne McDuffie and Denys Cowan.
• Speaking of which, Dwayne McDuffie would later work on other projects in which that WarnerMedia owns like What's New, Scooby-Doo?, Justice League and its sequel Justice League Unlimited, Teen Titans, Ben 10: Alien Force, Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, the first half of Ben 10: Omniverse and some films like Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, All-Star Superman and Justice League: Doom (which was his final project, before his death on February 21, 2011).
• A licensed game for Game Boy Advance based on the cartoon was planned to be released in 2003 by Midway Games, but was cancelled for unknown reasons.
