SuperMarioLogan (often shortened to SML), is an American web series created by Logan Thirtyacre (born November 17, 1994 [age 30]), better known as the YouTuber of the same name. The series first aired as shorts on December 8, 2007, as season 0 but then became officially released on April 7, 2009. SML is based on plush versions of characters from the Mario franchise.
Plot
Plush versions of Mario characters, and some non-Mario characters, have adventures at their home and schools.
Why It Used To Be Super And Deserved Chocolate Cake
- It takes an interesting approach to making a Super Mario sitcom with plushies, and it works quite well.
- It started as a channel with some teenagers making home movies with plush toys just for fun and slowly became an enjoyable plush series as time passed on.
- Because of this, it pioneered plushtubing and had a universal influence in inspiring many people out there to make plush videos.
- There are quite a lot of interesting, memorable, funny, and likable characters such as:
- Chef Pee Pee
- Bowser (before his flanderization)
- Bowser Junior (despite being overused during seasons 5-7 and having some unlikable moments)
- Cody
- Mario (before his flanderization)
- Brooklyn T. Guy
- Mr. Goodman (before his flanderization)
- Mama Luigi
- Craig the Devil
- Charleyyy
- Doofy The Dragon
- Jackie Chu
- Rosalina (before her flanderization)
- Black Yoshi(Despite being later flanderized in season 8)
- Harold Wilfred
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Toad
- Tony the Tiger
- Shrek
- Kung Pow
- Minnie Mouse
- Hansel
- Patrick
- Tyrone

- Donkey Kong
- Woody
- Luigi
- Chris The Cucumber
- Screwball
- Yoshi
- Felipe
- The Angry Birds (Big Red, Speedy, Blue Taliban, Poof, Tony, & Chad)
- The Bad Piggies
- There are quite a lot of funny jokes and puns that don't need to rely on filler, inappropriate jokes, non-stop swearing, and gross-out humor to be funny.
- Decent video editing and special effects.
- Some videos tell good morals, such as "do not change who you are", "don't play with guns" etc.
- Aside from the main channel, the secondary channels such as SuperLuigiLogan (which was used for bonus content and BTS videos), SuperPeachLogan (which was used to make videos of Logan's cat, the channel was soon changed into Chilly's channel) and SuperBowserLogan (which was used as a gaming channel) are also fun to watch.
- The series has spawned a lot of unique and memorable mini-series, including:
- Mario and Luigi's Stupid and Dumb Adventures
- Black Yoshi and the Birds
- Shrimpo Hunter
- Mario and Bowser's Stupid and Crazy Adventure
- Luigi's Mansion
- The Pokémon Series
- American Idol
- Chef Pee Pee Quits (except for parts 1 and 3)
- Bowser Junior's Summer School
- Who Wants To Be A Millionaire
- Bowser Junior's First Grade
- Bowser Junior Goes To Military School
- Whilst the Mario characters don't have the same personalities as they do in the video games, their new personalities here actually somewhat fit their character.
- Despite focusing more on comedy, this series does tackle personal problems now and then such as suicide, addiction, PTSD, neglect, and abuse.
- It manages to have a nostalgic Nintendo game feel to it, despite the characters not having the same personalities and also the fact it focuses on non-Nintendo characters and plots at times.
- The voice acting is amazing, Chris, Zeke, and Lovell are the most notable when it comes to great acting.
- There are a handful of amazing and decent episodes like:
- SUPER MARIO GOT MILK (the pilot episode, which is a decent way to start season 0 and the series as a whole)
- A Retarded Beginning
- Mama Luigi (episode)
- The Nintendo DSi (a good way to start season 1)

Bad Boy Qualities
- Most of the episodes overuse some of the same stock tracks from the YouTube Audio Library, which can get quite repetitive.
- Some characters are unlikable and/or annoying:
- Despite being good in seasons 0-2, Bowser was flanderized in season 3 and went from a menacing villain in the "Mario and Luigi's Stupid and Dumb Adventures" mini-series to Mario and Luigi to a short-tempered and lazy couch potato who frequently abuses his son and his chef, Chef Pee Pee. Luckily, he has made some slight improvements to his character as of season 9.
- Bowser is also shown to hate black people, which is ironic as not only is his voice actor a black person, but his idol, Charleyyy, is black.
- Bowser Junior, while not a bad character during this point, can be quite bratty and annoying in some episodes, not to mention he became one of the most overused characters during seasons 6 & 7.
- Joseph is a bit unlikable, and his personality is very flat compared to his friends.
- Peach is mean-spirited and annoying.
- While Shrek is still a funny character, his gross antics can be extremely annoying at times.
- While this was the intention of her character, Cody's mother, Judy can be very annoying and unlikable at times.
- Starting in season 3, most of the SML fandom started to hate Peach because she dumped Mario over him being bald.
- Ever since "Jeffy's Cellphone", Rosalina has been flanderized into being a nagging, borderline abusive housewife who rarely acts as a nice girl anymore and who defends Jeffy.
- While Mr. Goodman still has his fans, his character shifted into a corrupt multi-billionaire stereotype as of "The Koopalings Part 2", which has made him hated by many.
- David Winkle is pretty unlikable due to his perverted actions.
- Toadette is unlikable due to her annoying voice and being perverted to Bowser Junior.
- Jeffy is arguably the worst one of them all, as he is incredibly annoying, unlikable, and gross. He is at his worst in "Jeffy's Bad Word", and "Locked Out". He isn't as controversial as he is in seasons 9 present due to the fact not many of his jokes like his swearing were not that prominent, and he wasn't portrayed as a bratty kid, but instead as a clueless, presumably disabled boy.
- Black Yoshi also went flanderized in mid-season 8 from an awesome gangster joke to an annoying greedy character who only cares about Call of Duty and steals money and ask mario for money.
- The series went downhill horribly after Jeffy started to become overused since season 9.
- Not even these eras of the channel are entirely perfect as they do have some flaws.
- Season 0 (often called "The Beta Age") was mostly unfunny and boring compared to future eras of the series. Though, is somewhat excusable as it was mostly kids goofing around.
- Season 8, while still good, is arguably considered the weakest of all the good seasons as not only this is the season Jeffy was introduced, but this also kickstarted problems that will become a norm since season 9 such as having even more flanderization and has few more bad episodes than the previous seasons such as "Mario The Babysitter", "Cody's Birthday", "Jeffy's Bad Word", "Jeffy's Favorite Song" and "Locked Out".
- There are even a handful of bad or mediocre episodes before season 9, some examples include:
- A Bird Problem
- Bowser's Christmas Problem
- Bowser's Doritos
- Bowser Junior's Caprisun
- Bowser Junior's Cellphone
- Chef Pee Pee's Lottery Ticket
- Bowser’s Broken TV
- Bowser's Depression
- Shrek's Crappy Wish
- Chef Pee Pee Quits: Part 1
- Home Alone
- The Koopa Kids!
- Bowser Loses His Voice
- Chef Pee Pee Quits: Part 3
- Bowser Junior's Punishment
- April Fools!
- Bowser Junior Gets Potty Trained
- Bowser Junior's Annoying Toy
- Shrek's Bath Problem
- The Drone!
- Bowser Junior's Flu Shot
- Mario's Christmas Tree Problem
- Mario The Babysitter (possibly one of the worst episodes of the good seasons and marks the start of "The Jeffy Era", also making it the episode that starts the decline in quality of SML)
- Cody's Birthday
- Jeffy's Special Easter
- Bowser Junior Gets Rabies
- Bowser Junior's Nintendo 3DS
- Black Yoshi's Blank Check
- Jeffy's Stupid Home Video
- Jeffy's Cellphone"
- Jeffy's Bad Word (easily the worst episode of these seasons and one of the most all-time infamous episodes)
- The Gun
- Jeffy's Sister
- Jeffy's Favorite Song
- Jeffy Goes to the Zoo
- Jeffy's Flu Shot
- Locked Out (also counts as the worst and most despised/hated)
- Bowser Junior's Game Night 6
- Big Ears (which ended these seasons on a mediocre note)
- Because of Nintendo's cease and desist letter, SuperMarioLogan was deleted on July 8th, 2021, respectively. However, SBL's videos were restored in November of that year, likely because Logan removed Nintendo characters from their titles and thumbnails; many of SLL's videos were restored in October 2022 for unknown reasons before the channel was deleted entirely on March 19, 2023.
- Almost all of the SML videos on every channel have been reuploaded by fans, meaning this channel's videos will still be around.
- Though rare, (especially in comparison to the season 9-present era), there have been several instances of mean-spirited/gross-out moments in this era, some examples include:
- In "Jeffy's Bad Word", where Mario becomes hated and shunned on a global scale because he spanked Jeffy for saying the f slur.
- In "Shrek's Crappy Wish", where Shrek forces Mario to do stuff he doesn't want, like riding on him, and even forced him to eat his crap.
- In "Locked Out", where Jeffy locks Mario out of the house just because he wouldn't give him dessert, and got him arrested at the end.
- In "The Drone", where the titular drone cuts off Bowser Junior's tongue and Chef Pee Pee's eye with blood coming out.
Reception
Season 0 (sometimes referred to as The Beta Age by fans) got mixed reception from SML fans who considered it not as good as the future eras, as they also considered some of the early episodes unfunny, boring, or either decent. Due to the fact all of them are just kids goofing around.
Seasons 1-4 (sometimes referred to as The Classic Era or The Golden Era by fans) was a well-received era by many SML fans, mainly because of "Mario & Luigi's Stupid and Dumb Adventures" which was very very popular during that era.
Seasons 5-7 (sometimes referred to as The Junior Era by fans) initially garnered mixed reception from SML fans, with some considering this era just as good as the previous era and some fans despising this era and criticizing this era because of Bowser Junior become the most overused character by season 6, some weak episodes and many old characters wouldn't get the spotlight. However, in more recent years, this era is regarded much more positively in hindsight, especially when compared to The Jeffy Era (seasons 8-present), and is now widely agreed to be part of SML's golden era, with seasons 6 and 7 in particular often being considered two of the best SML seasons.
Seasons 8-present (sometimes referred to as The Jeffy Era by fans) at first received a mixed reception from SML fans who still considered them to be just as good as the previous seasons. But ever since season 9, this era would receive a mixed to negative reception amongst SML fans as it was criticized for Jeffy becoming the most overused character and no other characters focused on besides him, Mario, and Junior, lots of character flanderizations, gross-out and unfunny humor, and plenty of bad episodes.
