SUPER SMASH BROS. CRUSADE!

Super Smash Bros. Crusade often abbreviated as SSBC or Crusade, is a non-profit crossover action fighting fan game for Windows made with Game Maker 7/8. Originally a project started by Team Phalcon, consisting of Phantom7, Falcon8r, and Dr.MarioX, it is now left to Project Crusade Team. The game was just a fan game until 2012, but since version 0.9 Test, released in 2013, it has been made to more closely resemble the official X2 Super Smash Bros. Series.
Why It Rocks
- The graphics are great.
- The roster is very big and add characters that were not in any of the official Super Smash Bros. game such as Bomberman, Shadow from Sonic the Hedgehog, Chun-Li from Street Fighter, Ristar, Porky from Mother/Earthbound and even Petey Piranha from the Super Mario series. In fact, there are much more characters in this game than Super Smash Flash 2.
- In fact some characters like Mega Man and Ryu debuted here before they got into the offical games!
- Awesome Soundtrack. Some being songs from existing games while others are remixes.
- The game plays like an official Super Smash Bros. game, just like Super Smash Flash 2 and some characters have proper alternate moves from the official x2 Super Smash Bros. games.
- The gameplay is again very fun.
- Tight controls.
- Many of the newcomers have interesting and well thought out movesets, some on par with the quality of official Smash games, this is especially true with Bomberman, Tails, Knuckles and more.
- Some of the bad characters from the official x2 Super Smash Bros. game are now good characters in this game.
- Speaking of WIR#4, the game is faithful (in a good way) to the official Super Smash Bros games.
- There are a lot of great stages, despite some of them being bad.
- There are Certains of good grasp of the source material. For example, Kirby can get Copy Abilities from the Kirby Games from Swallowing opponents in gameplay: Examples below.
- He gets the Fire Ability from Swallowing Mario, Bowser, Ridley, Agumon and Shantae.
- He gets the Spark Ability from Swallowing Dr. Mario, Luigi, Ashley, Pikachu and Pichu.
- He Gets the Fighter Ability from Swallowing Lucario, Ryu, Chun Li, Crash, Goku and Vegeta.
- Good Acting from the Characters and Actors. In fact some characters like Porky, Heracross, and Ashley uses original voice actors instead of using voice clips.
- The framerate is smooth.
- Long before Ultimate was a thing, instead of breaking the Smash Ball, you have a gague that fills up which will let players activate a final smash.
- Some characters have alternate playstyles. Link can be able to use the Hidden Skills from Twilight Princess while Little Mac can have a moveset taken directly from 3DS/Wii U.
- Some veterans who appear in the game have different moves compared to the official games like Luigi using the Thunder Hand from the Mario & Luigi games or Ness using PK Rockin as a Final Smash.
- If you know what you're doing it's pretty easy to customize the game which includes adding more songs, creating new stages, and making new characters to join the frey!
- An airdodge exclusive to this game which can help you recover. Heck, you can also use airdodges based on Melee, Brawl, and Ultimate.
- New items like a plum from Rayman and a Shield Monitor from Sonic.
Bad Qualities
- Bad Voice Choices:
- Marth, Ryu, Evil Ryu, Chun-Li and Agumon only get the Japanese Acting, which is Disappointing.
- Heracross and the Non-Playable Pokémon use Cries from the Pokémon games instead of their actors from the Pokémon Spin-offs (Heracross does have an actor though).
- Ridley still doesn’t get a Voice Providing Actor.
- Geno in older versions of the game has a voice though its really cringy to listen to.
- Some of The Sound Effects are wrongfully used at times:
- The Dragon Ball Originated Heavy Kick sound effect for Bowser's Forward Smash attack (when that move is not even a punch).
- The Dragon Ball Originated Heavy Punch sound effect for the Finishing Blow on Bosses (when certain characters may not use punch attacks or are chosen not to do punch attacks).
- Dr. Eggman's Artwork shows up for the Artwork of the opponent about who is to be fought Instead of the Death Egg Robot, Despite Dr. Eggman not being shown during the fight and the Death Egg Robot being the one who is fought.
- The Bosses, Master Hand, Crazy Hand, Death Egg Robot and Millenniummon get stamina meters instead of The Unique Health Bars from Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
- Speaking of Millenniummon, It's an overpowered and Unfinished Boss.
- The length of Classic Mode depends on the Difficulty, which is a really bad idea.
- Patamon is both a Playable Fighter and an NPC Assist, which is another bad idea.
- Some of the Kirby Copy Ability choices Kirby gets from certain characters either don't make good sense or just lazy: Examples below.
- Bomb from Petey Piranha: Since Petey Piranha was never shown or implied to use Bombs. When it could've been tornado since Petey Piranha was shown to use Tornados in Super Mario Sunshine.
- Wheel from Sonic: Since the other playable sonic characters in this game can use Spin Dashes. When it could've again been tornado since Sonic is known for being wind-like when going fast and is known for using wind element attacks.
- Spark from Ness and Lucas: Since they have other elemental PSI attacks such as PK Fire and PK Freeze. When it could've been ESP since they use PSI attacks, which are like psychic.
- Beam from Mewtwo: Since Mewtwo is never shown or implied to use beams. When again it could've been ESP since it's a Psychic Type Pokémon.
- Even when they started adding more Bosses to Classic Mode, the routes are still uncreative (in a bad way).
- None of the NPC Pokémon Assists can be attacked, defeated or Grabbed (except maybe Psyduck).
- Some bad or unfun Stages:
- Big Blue
- Cut Man's Arena
- Pac-Maze
- There are still Bad Moveset choices.
- Mario doesn't have the Hammer (Side Smash), Ground Pound (Down Aerial), Cappy (Side Special), Firebrand (Neutral Special), Wing Cap (Up Special) or Ultra Fireball (Final Smash).
- Luigi doesn't have the Hammer (Side Smash). or Ground pound (Down Aerial).
- Bowser's Moveset (with some exceptions) is still poor as he doesn't have Hammers, Minion Help, or even a Tail Swipe attack.
- Petey Piranha's Final Smash is lame as he does nothing special for his final smash.
- Donkey Kong still doesn't the Coconut Shooter, Barrel Throw or Hammer Knuckle.
- Wario Doesn't Have Dragon Wario, Earthquake Punch or Wario Balloon in his moveset.
- Toon Link doesn't the Skull Hammer in His Side Smash.
- Kirby still doesn't have the Slide Kick from the Kirby Franchise as his down tilt, nor Hi Jump for his up special nor Circus for his side special.
- Meta Knight's Non Special Move pool is mostly still poor as he for example doesn't have the Slide Kick or the Down Thrust.
- Pikachu still doesn't have Iron Tail (Up Smash), Electro Ball (Neutral Special) or Zippy Zap (Up Special) as part of its moveset.
- Jigglypuff still doesn't have any Fairy Type moves despite having its typing changed into Fairy/Normal.
- Mewtwo still doesn't have Psychic Powers for Certains of its Non Special Moves and it doesn't even have Psychic (Side Special) or Future Sight (Down Special) nor one of its Mega Evolutions as its Final Smash.
- Pichu still has Skull Bash and Agility despite not learning those moves in the Pokémon Games or TV Show series instead of Volt Switch (Up Special), Nuzzle (Side Special) or Wish (Down Special).
- Lucario still doesn't Have Counter as its Down Special and doesn't even have its Mega Evolution as its final smash.
- Lucas still doesn't have PK Love as his side special.
- Olimar Doesn't Have Winged Pikmin, Rock Pikmin or Ice Pikmin in his Pikmin Pluck move in his moveset.
- Solid Snake still doesn't have the Beretta 92 as His Side Smash.
- Sonic still doesn't have the Slide move from the Sonic Franchise as his down tilt and Super Sonic still cannot take any damage despite have taken hits before in the Sonic Media.
- Tails doesn't have the Tornado as his Final Smash.
- Speaking of Movesets, Some of the Move choices are misplaced (EX: Bowser Bomb for Bowser (as it's his Down special when it fits properly to be his down aerial), Shoulder Tackle for Wario (as it is made into a Side Smash when it fits properly as a Side Special or a Dash Attack) and Energy Shot/Charged Shot for Mega Man (as it is made into a Neutral Special when it fits properly as a Neutral Ground Attack).)
- There are still certain Balancing & Development Issues with the Playable Fighter Roster.
- Toad's Ground Pound doesn't bounce on or meteor spike opponents when it hits.
- While the concept of Kirby getting the copy abilities from the Kirby games after swallowing opponents is awesome, the execution is flawed, since you can only press the Neutral Special Button in order to execute the moves and there are no copy ability hats for kirby when getting the copy abilities from the Kirby Games.
