TVN report about Five Nights at Freddy's

On January 30, 2018, the TV program Muy Buenos Días from the Chilean TV channel TVN aired a report about Five Nights at Freddy's and the negative effects of violent video games on children.

Why It Should Be Jumpscared

1. First of all, this report was unnecessary considering the game series Five Nights at Freddy's had a huge popularity in 2014 and 2015 and was no longer relevant back in 2018, they could have talked about a video game that was popular at the time.
2. One of the reporters says that the game is new when the first game in the series was released in 2014, nearly 4 years before this report was made.
   • They also claimed it was still trending back when the report was made despite it being no longer relevant back then.
3. The report is clearly demonizing video games as it says that video games are dangerous for children, while they are right about some video games being not appropriate for children, they do it in a bad way.
4. Most of the footage used in the report are SFM fan animations instead of actual footage from the games.
5. One of the presenters spell "Five Nights at Freddy's" as "Faiv Naits an Freddy". They could’ve tried a lot better understanding on how it’s pronounced.
   • At some point, the narrator spells it as "Five Nights Freddy".
6. The reporters clearly did not make enough research, as the report says that the only tool the players use to defend themselves are the security cameras, when in the game they can use the doors to defend themselves (through the functions vary on the game) even thought they were a bit right about some of the aspects of the game.
   • At some point, it is mentioned that the game is available on consoles despite that no console ports of the games were released at the time the report was made.
7. The report also complains about the game being scary, when it is a horror game and it is meant to be scary.
8. The report also claims that the games make children have hallucinations, which is just cringeworthy, as the kid shown in the report claimed to had hallucinations with the animatronics and he claims that the characters may attack him in real life when they are purely fictional (though he was 8 years old at the moment the report was made).
   • Also, he was a bit young to play Five Nights at Freddy's, as the game is recommended for ages 12 and up.

Redeeming Qualities

1. At least the report acknowledges that Five Nights at Freddy's and GTA are not for kids, even if it was done in a bad way.
2. As previously stated, it is a bit right in some things as the presenters of the program talked about the ESRB (the American rating system).
3. It is also right about that we should control what children play or watch.

Reception

When the report was released, it quickly gained many dislikes on YouTube and was heavily criticized by fans of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise.
