Take the Plunge is the first episode of Battle for Dream Island. It released on January 1, 2010.
Why It Rocks
- It's a great start to BFDI. It decently introduces all 20 contestants in a fair amount of screentime for each to get to know them well.
- Decent animation for two 12-year-olds in the year of 2009, and while it is simple and outdated in comparison to the newer episodes, it still impressive for it's time.
- Good amount of funny gags:
- Coiny teasing Golf Ball and Tennis Ball with sitting in a tree (K-I-S-S-I-N-G).
- Pin using the "wrong finger".
- Firey shouting "LEAK!"
- The first contests were pretty good to watch.
- The iconic opening of Pencil and Match talking about Flower being afraid of bugs.
- The soundtrack is good, with "New Friendly" becoming an iconic track in the object show community.
- The battle where every contestants fight to stay on and winning is entairtaining, and is also rather funny to watch.
- Tons of funny moments, such as some of the slapstick and especially the ending.
Bad qualities
- The animation is a bit cheap but improves quickly in later episodes.
- A few plot holes, as Announcer randomly appears from nowhere to reveal the contest and Dream Island, with neither origin revealed.
- Rocky can talk perfectly, which didn't age too well as the show progressed.
