Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills is a low-budget kids' show made by DIC Entertainment to cash in on the success of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Unlike Power Rangers, it was not adapted from any pre-existing tokusatsu show. The series aired on USA's "Cartoon Express" block (despite not being animated) in the mid-90s. In 2011, reruns returned on This TV's "This Is for Kids" block (a.k.a. "Cookie Jar Toons").

Plot

Four teenagers from Beverly Hills (hence the title) are chosen by the alien Nimbar to stop an evil alien emperor named Gorganus. Nimbar gives them the power to transform into giant superheroes called the "Galactic Sentinels".

Why It Sucks

1. Ridiculous premise.
2. Terrible acting, even by tokusatsu standards.
3. Forgettable, unlikable, and stereotypical protagonists who are constantly at each others’ throats.
4. Jaw-droppingly bad character designs that would make even WWE's Max Moon cringe.
5. Extremely repetitive. Aside from most of the episodes following the exact same opening formulas, only ten monster suits were built and three fighting spaces made, resulting in the same monsters/spaces being used over and over again over the course of 40 episodes.
6. Despite being targeted towards kids, there was a rude scene in the episode "A Nightmare on Rodeo Drive", where Gordon made Laurie's clothes disappear, leaving her in her underwear for a few seconds. Look at it.
7. Numerous continuity issues.
8. Dreadful fight choreography. The usage of blatantly obvious stunt doubles every time the teens transform doesn’t help either.
9. Awful CGI special effects, even by early 90's standards.
10. As stated above, it's a blatant rip-off of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.
11. Poor grammar, such as “Now we are EQUALS!”.
12. The title is a bit misleading:
    1. While the title is a ripoff of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, it is also a ripoff of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
    2. While the word "Tattooed" is in the title, this is probably false because they are teenagers. You need to be 18 or older to get a tattoo, or at least 16 if with a parent or guardian.

Redeeming Qualities

1. Catchy theme song.
2. Emperor Gorganus is a very intimidating main antagonist.

Trivia

• The series was notably lampooned by TeamFourStar's Dragon Ball Z Abridged, most notably in one scene when Gohan mentioned it to Vegeta who questioned the former among the various action-packed anime and tokusatsu shows from the 1990s, and it's so obscure that people thought TFS made it up. Unfortunately, they didn't.
