Tea at the Treedome is the third segment of the first episode of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Plot

SpongeBob meets Sandy for the first time and Sandy invites him to have some tea at her house. However, SpongeBob discovers the air is unbreathable to him the hard way.

Why This Episode NEEDS IT

  1. It introduces Sandy Cheeks, one of SpongeBob's best friends who immediately became part of the main cast.
  2. It has a good moral: You don't have to like something that your new friend likes, because you might not like it at all.
  3. Patrick is still a funny comic relief.
  4. The concept of a sea creature meeting an animal from the surface is original.
  5. Memorably hilarious lines (mostly from SpongeBob and Patrick), like "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!" and '"WHAT KIND OF PLACE IS THIIIIIIS?!".
  6. Good Ending: Sandy provides SpongeBob and Patrick with water helmets so they can breathe.

The Only Bad Quality

  1. The continuity in this episode has been forgotten in "Sponge on the Run" (the third SpongeBob movie). However, the Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years episode "Kitchen Sponge" most likely fixes that, hinting that Kamp Koral and Sponge on the Run are both not canon, or maybe Sandy inexplicably changed history. The changing history part is quite weird if you think about it, especially on paper.
    • If we take this into consideration, this could be that this was the first time that Sandy and SpongeBob have meet each other in years.
