That '70s Show is an American sitcom that aired on Fox from August 23, 1998, to May 18, 2006. The series focuses on the lives of a group of six teenagers living in (a fictional) Point Place, Wisconsin, from May 17, 1976, to December 31, 1979.
Summary
A comedy revolving around a group of teenage friends and their mishaps set in the '70s.
Why It's A 70s Show That We Wanted It
- A show about a group of six teenage friends in the '70s is entertaining.
- Funny moments such as Eric saying I love you to Red, everybody treating Eric like a God, Amedica, and the Fatso Clown.
- Likable and hilarious characters such as Eric Forman and Steven Hyde.
- Catchy theme song.
- Started and increased careers of Topher Grace, Mila Kunis (who went on to portray Meg for Family Guy), Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson.
- The finale was great.
- Cool and funny bump scenes such as this one.
- It featured actors that appeared on shows from the 1970s such as Mary Tyler Moore, Tom Bosley, and Shirley Jones.
- The imagination, dream, and sequences like it are pretty creative and funny.
- The episode where Eric leaves features a scene where Red finally says "I love you" to Eric and its very touching.
Bad Qualities
- Red Forman can be a bit unlikable at times.
- Some jokes can be mean-spirited.
- On the note of #3, Eric suffers as a character around the 5th season as he acts like a Star Wars fanatic and seems like he doesn't know what he wants to do with his life. Some have theorized that this might be why Topher Grace left.
- Speaking of Topher Grace's departure, it's a primary reason why the 8th and final season, besides the finale, is voted the worst of the series. This is also considering that Ashton Kutcher's appearances are also significantly shortened and the finale is only really good because both of them return for it.
- Steven Hyde is now a very controversial character due to actor Danny Masterson being convicted of rape (not accused, convicted), and Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have also suffered backlash for defending him, as if they're simply denying the fact that he did actually do it.
Reception
It received mostly positive reviews by critics and viewers. It has a 8.1 rating on IMDb.
Trivia
- It spawned tons of memes.
