"I am alien, the green alien. I’m going to dance for you, are you ready?"
— Green Alien
The Adventures of Açela is an animated comedy adventure film directed and written by Özgür Dogruöz and produced by Özgür Dogruöz Film.
Plot
Açela and her friends start on an amazing journey deep into a dark forest in search of the village's Taleteller legend.
Why We Won’t Go On Adventures With Açela
- The animation looks extremely horrendous, with incredibly limited movements throughout the movie. Many of the characters have the same prepackaged animations, including their walking cycles and dance movements, to the point where it looks very awkward on the 3D models.
- Extremely poor and ugly 3D models that obviously look like they were stolen from other websites. To give you an example of what we mean, Açela and her father look like they are from completely different movies. Açela has a more cartoony art style, while her dad has more realistic proportions. Even the children have the same proportions, and their eyes appear soulless and eerie.
- Adding insult to injury, this model and animation are more like a PS1 cutscenes due to how horrible and ugly for the models and the animations is.
- This film has terrible pacing; the kids encounter the Taleteller, who presents a story for 12 minutes with no visuals to keep the audience captivated. Yet another instance of poor pacing is having to stare at the animals for 30 seconds with nothing happening.
- The nonsensical "plot", if that’s what you want to call it, goes absolutely nowhere, and most things are never explained. An example of this being the strange ogre following the kids, who does nothing but make grunt sounds throughout the film. And in one scene, the kids simply get the weed for the Taleteller and hand it over to him, with no climax or conflict. What was the point of that?
- While the green alien dancing in front of the children may be funny to some viewers, it makes no logic and is as absurd as you can imagine.
- Many of the characters have no need to be in the film since they serve no purpose to the movie whatsoever, such as the aforementioned Ogre, who follows the kids throughout the film, which has an hour and 10 minute runtime.
- While it does have a good theme, saying how going to school is important to get an education, it is portrayed very poorly, and none of it is portrayed throughout the film.
- The dialogue feels like it had no direction and had the characters speak very robotically. It wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that the characters are robots disguised as humans.
- In the ending of the film, they have 15 quotes from historical people about education, which feels very unusual and doesn't need to be in the film.
- The poster itself looks poorly made; it has most of the characters standing there and doing poses, and it tells us nothing about what the movie is about whatsoever beyond what the characters look like.
The Only Redeeming Quality
- The movie is so bad that it can be considered hilarious.
Reception
This film garnered some attention as a result of SaberSpark and Double Toasted describing it as the "worst movie of all time" in their words. As a result, many people have given the film a 1/10 on IMDb, while others have jokingly given it a 10/10. The film currently sits at a 2.6/10 rating on IMDb.
