The Big Bang Theory (abbrevieated as TBBT) is an American television sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, both of whom served as executive producers on the series, along with Steven Molaro. All three also served as head writers.

Why It's a Big Bang Theory

  1. Lots of funny moments and running gags in the show. They include:
    1. Sheldon knocking on someone's door 3 times and saying said person's name 3 times.
    2. Howard's mother yelling at Howard across the house (though this gag is retired following the death of Carol Ann Susi, who voices Howard's mother).
    3. Raj only being able to talk to girls after drinking alcohol.
    4. Sheldon claiming that he has a spot of his own on the couch.
    5. An episode when Sheldon wants the bird to go away from his apartment.
    6. The "roommate agreement".
    7. Fun With Flags.
  2. Impressive CGI atoms added in the show between breaks.
  3. Making a sitcom about two scientists is very original.
  4. The intro animation also looks impressive and it has a really nice and memorable intro music by the Barenaked Ladies.
  5. Some educational elements added as well, especially from Sheldon.
  6. Very good acting, especially from Jim Parsons.
  7. Some rather wholesome scenes sometimes. This includes Penny and Sheldon's mother singing "Soft kitty" to Sheldon when he's sick and when Sheldon and Wil becomes friends again.
    • Another act of wholesomeness is seen after the credits of the episode The Colonization Application, which, when the Chuck Lorre Productions logo plays, it shows a dedication to Leonard Nimoy, an American actor known to play as Spock in the Star Trek franchise, who died on that same week.
  8. Amazing looking backgrounds with impressive cameo acts.
  9. Despite the sexual scenes, it isn't overly sexual, as it doesn't have any nudity or visible use of sex stuff.
  10. The Stockholm Syndrome is a really amazing episode to end the show.
  11. Some quotes and scenes became internet memes, such as "Bazinga!", "My mommy raised a gentlemen" and "I don't need sleep, I need answers."
  12. Due to acclaim, its spinoff, Young Sheldon was also good, showcasing Sheldon's life as a child.
  13. Although the show is mostly funny, there are a few emotional parts here and there, especially when Howard's mother dies.
  14. Speaking of that, it had a proper tribute to Carol Ann Susi, the actress who played Howard's mom after she passed away.

Bad Qualities

  1. Despite the show only being PG rated, there are a lot of sexual scenes in the show, however no nudity is shown.
  2. The characters can be mean-spirited sometimes, most notably Sheldon. Not to mention the fact that he's a Karma Houdini since he gets away with his jerkass behavior far too often, and hardly ever learns his lesson.
    • Howard may also be unlikable, due to his creepy obsession with girls, which he thankfully grew out of after meeting Bernadette.
  3. Flanderization: Sheldon suffers from this as he started off as slightly more neurotic and less interested in socializing than Leonard, but quickly grew to where his neat freak and schedule fanatic traits were more dominant. In addition his disinterest in socializing was eventually explained, in part, by his Asexuality and he acts a lot more like a man-child.
  4. The show for some reason has an obsession with gay jokes as there are constant references to Raj and Howard (as well as Penny and Amy) of having homosexual tendencies.
  5. The animation in the intro might be annoying to some, due to its fast animation.
  6. The show can come across as pandering a lot of the times due to the constant references to nerdy pop culture stuff like Doctor Who, Battlestar Galatica, Star Wars, Star Trek, Thundercats, etc.
  7. Stephanie disappeared from the show without any closure or resolution to her romance arc with Leonard, who just went back to pining for Penny.
  8. While the later seasons of the show are still decent, the show went downhill in later years. Exactly when is a subject of debate, but it is often agreed to have happened sometime between Season 4 and Season 8. It did re-improve, though.
