The City of Dreams, Nobita Land is the second episode of the 1979 anime.

Plot

Nobita (Noby) is tired of being pushed around by parents, and with the help of his robotic cat, Doraemon, he uses The City Building Camera to make Dream Town Nobita Land. (Noby's Dream Town)

Why It's A Dream

  1. There's a lot of funny moments, such as when Nobita skates in his house and then falls, although this is very dangerous to do in real life since that would cause a lot of injuries.
  2. The premise of the episode is very interesting and even extremely creative, as it is about the fact that Nobita wants to get his own house and then Doraemon finds the tool to do that, and after they do what they have to, Nobita invites his friends to do the same thing. In fact, it's also one of the most creative episodes of the first season of the 1979 series. This is also possibly the best episode because of this.
  3. The animation, while not perfect and deformed at times, is decent and a little better than the first episode, despite having a lot of animation errors.
  4. The soundtrack, as usual with the Doraemon franchise, is very good and catchy, despite being only the second episode of the show where the franchise hasn't gotten its best music yet.
  5. The characters are all likable here, except Nobita's mother, and in some moments, Gian can also be unlikable in this episode, but it's not that big of a deal in this episode compared to some of them since he's still likable.
    • Although they are rather unlikable at the end of the episode since when Nobita mother asked to clean up all the houses Doraemon and Nobita placed, instead of helping Doraemon or Nobita, they left (including Nobita), which means that he will have to do this all by himself.
  6. Great pacing that knows when it should be fast or slow, much like most episodes from the 1979 series.
  7. The scene where Doraemon and especially his friends are having fun is somewhat wholesome, although that depends on you.

Bad Qualities

  1. Due to being an early episode of the series, there are again a lot of animation errors, or the color palette can look off at times, or Nobita can be tall on some occasions, which doesn't make any sense.
  2. Awful Ending: Due to Nobita's mother asking to clean up all the houses Doraemon and his friends placed earlier in the episode, instead of helping, they left (including Nobita), which made Doraemon tired and have to do this all by himself. This is likely the worst thing of the episode.
  3. Some of the characters, such as Nobita, are unlikable in this episode.

Reception

It's got a 8,4/10 score in IMDb, making it one of the highest rated episode of the entire series on the website.

Trivia

  • Although, Nobita lost his balance while skating and fell in his house, he was seen skating on his own in his dream city. He is shown to be unable to skate in later episodes.
  • The bowl in Tamako's hand had four cookies in it.
