The Day My Butt Went Psycho! is an Australian-Canadian TV series that was animated by Jam Filled Entertainment, Studio Moshi, and Nelvana, and used to air on Teletoon in Canada and was available on Netflix in the United States and other countries until 2020 based on the Bum trilogy by Andy Griffiths. The show was based loosely on the novel series of a similar name by Andy Griffiths. The show is about a boy named Zack and his detachable butt Deuce as they go on several adventures.

Why It's Nothing BUTT Terrible (unintended pun)

1. Like the books, this show revolves entirely around BUTTS, butt but even worse.
   • At the very end of every episode, the iris wipe is literally a butt. Yes, really.
     • And to make it worse, it ends with farting.
2. The title card music, which literally consists of kazoos, and theme song are annoying. Not to mention, the lyrics are cringeworthy and terrible.
3. Poor grasp of the source material: In the books, Deuce is the main villain and the leader of the butts, but somehow in the series, he's the deuteragonist!
   • In addition, the show takes place somewhere in North America, possibly Canada, rather than Australia, where the original books were set and published, with all the characters speaking in such accents showing a betrayal of its source material.
     • Basically because all of the voice actors are Canadian while none of them are even Australian, it would've made sense if some of the voice actors could've been Australian while some could've been Canadian and used their accents while the voice acting or if the Canadian voice actors used Australian accents while voicing the characters. Something like this happened in the Australian-Canadian animated series Dex Hamilton: Alien Entomologist, where the main titular protagonist was voiced by Dwayne Hill, who is Canadian in reality and also has a role in this show as one of the additional voices, but voiced Dex with a broad Australian accent.
4. The background music is just farting sounds, which is not pleasant to listen to.
5. Horrible puns and lingo, each episode is named after some pun about butts or any other form of potty humor, some examples include "Comic Butt Convention", "Beat Box Butt", "C'est Cheek", and "I, Robutt". And one of the butt characters is named "The Great White Butt", which sounds extremely racist and disgusting.
6. The action scenes are stock, bland, and unpleasantly boring, but a little better than the ones seen the books.
7. Terrible voice acting, especially for Deuce.
8. Too many jokes consisting of butt jokes and toilet humor. On top of this, a huge quantity of the character designs is mediocre and disturbing, especially the butts.
9. Cheap and lazy flash animation.
10. The characters aren't much better than in the books.
    • Zack and Deuce are a generic gross-out duo that mostly becomes obsessed with butts.
11. Cheap and mediocre background designs compared to the books.

Redeeming Qualities

1. The art style is decent since it's like the books it's based on.
2. While the voice acting is terrible, Bryn McAuley, who voiced Laney Penn from Grojband and Suzi from Camp Lakebottom, does do a great job on voicing Eleanor Sterne.
3. Good overall concept, though plagued by tons of fart jokes, as mentioned above.
4. Some of the non-fart or butt-related jokes are funny.

Reception

The Day My Butt Went Psycho received overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics and audiences, with the majority of the criticism going to its overuse of toilet humor and butt jokes. It currently holds a 2.3/10 on IMDb and is considered one of the worst, if not the worst, Canadian cartoons of all time.
