The Fancy Pants Adventures is a series of platform games developed by Brad Borne. World 1 released on March 14, 2006. Currently, four worlds have been created, with a fifth one in production, and there are also many remakes.

Synopsis

Fancy Pants man is a teenage stick figure who clashes in orange pants (and in other colors as additional rewards). He can spin, roll, slide, jump, and even use a pencil and pen as swords. Accompanying him is his younger sister Cutie Pants who gets captured in World 3 and becomes playable in World 1 Remix.

Why These Games Are Fancy

  1. The worlds are created as if they were drawn on paper, which is a fun and clever concept considering Fancy Pants being a stick figure.
  2. Very fun gameplay that is inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario Bros..
  3. Plenty of swirlies that can be found across the game, they reward points and restore health. Collecting 100 of them adds an extra life.
  4. For a basic stick figure character wearing baggy pants, Fancy Pants has many great abilities such as sliding, rolling, and swinging a pencil to knock out his foes.
  5. In World 2, there's an extra objective where players kick a snail shell around the level and into a specific golf hole to claim a new pants color.
  6. World 3 is a massive step up from the previous two games, as the gameplay and lore get even better. Not only is there a real plot at all (pirates kidnapping Cutie Pants, and brainwashing her into a pirate princess), but there's more variety in level designs, baddies, music, and challenges. This continues with World 4 and so on.
  7. Awesome energetic and relaxing soundtracks, especially in Worlds 3 and 4.
  8. Decent baddies such as the spiders, snails, mice, and ninjas.
  9. Very fun (yet tough) bonus challenges in World 3 where the player must collect swirlies, race, and knock out enemies.
  10. World 4 has a unique concept where the player swaps the pencil for a pen, which is far better than the pencil, and comes with many ink-related abilities.

Unfancy Qualities

  1. Some of the plots in the older games can be awfully cheesy. In World 1, there's no plot at all except to straight up murder an angry penguin for no reason (he was even sleeping peacefully before Fancy Pants showed up). The whole plot of World 2 is to chase after a purple rabbit who stole Fancy's ice cream. Why not just get another ice cream? Thankfully World 3 introduced better plots. On top of that, the first game is considered the weakest for being so short and lacking a plot.
  2. Some bosses can be easy to beat in the earlier games. Thankfully, later games introduced harder bosses.
